We needed this loss to take some pressure off and reset. Honestly, I'm ok with us dropping in the rankings too. Get the eyes off us a bit. Auburn-Georgia-TAMU is a tough schedule to play after losing your starting setter. I doubt many teams in the country could go 2-1 against that group in a 6 day span under those circumstances. They will all be tournament teams. SEC getting 7 teams in the tourney??! Now that’s some hot tea right there.

Fun match to watch! Congrats to TAMU on a hard fought win. Morrison is building a pretty tough team. They put up a good block against a heavy handed Florida team and of course Lednicky, can’t believe she’s only a sophomore.
Martin doesn’t look as offensively strong without Stucky but her defense as a 6’6” girl is impressive. Muff deserves a ton of respect too, those are big shoes to replace and she’s working hard to do it.

Scroll back for this info. You’re uninformed. They just need to switch sides to show the packed side and endzones. The side they show is sold to sponsors and then goes unused. So frustrating. They could give their tix to clubs and schools, etc. There were packed sides and endzones??? I guess I missed that in all of the camera angles. So you're blaming the "sponsors" for not having anyone in attendance for a match that's on ESPN??? Isn't that what sponsors are supposed to do? As in, fill in the seats? I am basing it on personal experience and knowledge. I am not "blaming" anyone, friend. I am giving you information re why the lower seats on that side are mostly empty.

They will all be tournament teams. Muff isn't the problem, but it's certainly an adjustment as she can't be Stucky, only the best she can be. South Carolina, Alabama and Miss State will be 3 of the next 4. Hopefully an opportunity to build some confidence. Of course, Auburn can certainly beat us in that stretch before we head to College Station for the rematch. It's by no means a bad loss, but the idea that it was "needed" to take pressure off is completely ridiculous. Fla has already lost once and has never closed on a championship. I get fans creating narratives that are beneficial to their team, but no. Maybe if Florida was 27-0 and about to be seeded No. 1 overall in the tourney, then possibly a loss would be needed to take pressure off. But, one third of the way through the season? It will do them more harm than good at this point. If Fla "needs" a loss to relieve pressure at this point, they'll never win a title. Thanks for the insights.

Scoring 34 total points in 3 sets (10 on Ark service errors) has highlighted the disadvantage of a cupcake non conference schedule. This is not to diminish the perseverance and fight of the Gators. And Muff iding a hell of a job. Pass better and explain to Victotia there is 900 square ft of target area to attack.

Unfortunately, RPI/Committee probably won't agree with you. The committee has *not* punished SEC teams for playing completely cupcake schedules, and in fact has rewarded them for lackluster resume's at the misfortune of otherwise qualified teams. See: Auburn last year (maybe Tennessee, their resume was sketchy but they scheduled better than Auburn), Ole Miss in 2021, and LSU in 2018 (they won 1 Top 50 game against High Point, who didn't beat any Top 50 teams all season).

TAMU likely gamed the RPI by playing a lot of teams from one bid conferences who won their tourney and played in the NCAA tourney.
They may be a top 4 team in the SEC if they play like they did last night
Auburn's match night was a one off IMO but they looked pretty bad last night

Auburn's match night was a one off IMO but they looked pretty bad last night It might be a one off for as bad as it was, but... they went 5 with South Alabama lost to MTSU at home dropped sets to UAB, Charleston Southern, Samford, and Coppin State in the non-conference. That collection of results against those teams screams sketchy.

However, when the inevitable loss comes it is not a bad thing to find the positive. There did seem to be a higher number of none Florida or TAMU fans commenting and salivating over the impending Florida loss. I agree with the positive take that finally suffering this loss might in the short run take some building pressure off the team. Before the season many people thought this team would have upwards of 5 losses by now. We just lost our starting setter and this team was not going to run the table without her. We certainly did loose but looked capable of winning it. Nothing wrong on having a positive take on this loss.
