The best thing about vball is the sets IMO. It's what makes the game exciting. You can get trounced -13 and be like "Okay, literally reset." Bet. As a lifelong competitive tennis player, I concur. Though if that's the scoring system, teams and individuals really need to learn to focus on that fact - sets are what's important. Plenty of fans and people around them will obsess over set scores, not the mere fact of winning or losing a set. We agree to a point. I also play tennis and Ultimate, and I see how having a bad set in tennis is like meh. Bc the scores 6-3 and 6-4 both mean that you only lost one frame that you should've won. But, the points in vball are more reflective of massive runs / lapses in concentration. So losing -6 (ahem) or -17 are both bad losses, but they're more indicative of a team's skill. tl;dr: Yes, sets. But set scores matter more with larger point systems. |
