Zenit Leon picked today to reappear. Perugia finally made good on their NY Yankees-style roster construction and $$$$.
Really good and fun season from Monza, but I have similar concerns for them as I do for Milano next season.

It's just so hard to beat a team with that much depth at every position. Even at setter -- if Gianelli couldn't play, they have a really great #2 in Ropret.
Hats off to Monza, though! They went on a true Cinderella journey through the Scudetto. That team should be very proud of all they did this season.

St. Nazaire pulled out the win in the golden set. It was an epic match.

Haven't really been watching men's volleyball - what was summary of this finals series? Who are standout players on Monza? I have a small crush on Cachopa.

Maar, Ran, Loeppky, the three outside hitters are all good. Monza did really great.

Haven't really been watching men's volleyball - what was summary of this finals series? Who are standout players on Monza? I have a small crush on Cachopa. Summary: Perugia's serving, the passing/defense from Colaci, heavy swings OOS, extremely deep bench, and Gianelli being one of the greatest setters in the world helped them to ward off Monza's new 3-OH system that gave them the upper hand in the longer rallies. There were some great sets in the series but, even in the 5-set win Monza had in Game 2, Perugia always had the answer for their own weaknesses. Standout players for Monza: Cachopa's fearless setting; Galassi, who is probably Italy's best middle; Ran Takahashi's all-around game, but especially his serve and passing; Loeppky playing out of position; Gaggini's defense. Maar made some huge plays but was also very inconsistent when they needed him.

Every OH was used in every single set. In set 3, all 3 outsides were on the court at the same time, with Semeniuk coming on for OPP to pass and hit. Is Sole injured? Didn't seem like he got any court time.

The only player on their roster i've never heard of is their backup libero...and I'm pretty sure that's only because they loaned out Piccinelli to Cisterna for this season, where he started.

Oh, is Russo ahead of Sole on the depth chart? Sole's considered a local now, right?

Congrats to McIntosh! Maybe we'll still see him around with the B Team.

Could be as little as Russo with the more effective serve, but I've never really looked at the two of them side by side. But yes, Solé plays as a local.

Really good and fun season from Monza, but I have similar concerns for them as I do for Milano next season. It’s unfortunate that this group can’t build on what they achieved this season. Hopefully Ran returns to Italy soon… after he secures the bag in Japan lol. There were even rumors that JW in Poland wanted him but Japan money won out

Micah Christenson and Zenit Kazan are up 2-0 on Dynamo Moscow.
The third match will be tomorrow.
They are a machine right now and very fun to watch.

Christenson and Kazan finished up the sweep and won three trophies this year.
