In the tournament 2 seasons ago - does WVU think it will do better? New ADs sometimes won’t act based on if they think they can do better or not. But whether they have an opening to make a change that could potentially make them look good if it works, specially for sports that don’t have heavy media coverage like basketball and football because no one will really come for the AD at WVU for fumbling the volleyball coach hire. WVU has 2 conference wins in the past two seasons. And the overall record of his tenure isn’t great. A lot will argue that a change is warranted. Maybe they won’t get any better, but no one’s going to blame the AD for attempting to make a change under the current circumstances imo.

All-Time Record ................................................................... 754-823 (.478) Veronica Hammersmith was HC from 1975-2009. 34 Years. Reed's 8 years are a drop in the bucket. Hammersmith had 18 seasons where she won more than lost. Finally, the president of the University is Gordon Gee, he is notorious for havong had a hand in the demise of many university's reputations, either athletically or academically: Colorado (athletic), Vanderbilt (academic), Brown (academic), Ohio State (athletic), and now WVU (athletic).

Completely understand the 754-823 (.478) but recently at WV he's 32-114 in Conference play with 9 Years to figure things out and and make them better. Maybe its just time for both parties to go their separate ways and try something new.

My post wasn’t meant to be in support of letting him go. I don’t have an opinion on it, can see why they’d let him go and can also understand people that are saying that it’s just a tough place to do any better at. I was just trying to make the point that the AD might want to go for a change anyways as they’ll have everything to gain if the team improves and nothing to lose if they stay the same.

What happened in WV? I haven't really been following them. But they were good, middle/uper middle conference team a few seasons ago. Reed is an outstanding coach and mentors his players very well. The last time he got fired, it was after leading Cincinnati to the best season in program history and losing 15-13 to narrowly miss the Sweet 16. So there are clearly people and players that have a different view of Reed. As there is with any coach…..

Reed Sunahara to Miami makes a ton of sense. I think his daughter is in the Cleveland area which is only 3ish hours from Oxford. Reed is beloved in the club scene around Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. Have to think he would be able to recruit that area very well.

Billy Joel will always have the residency at Madison Square Arena to live on. William Jewell??? They do have their Head Coach job posted. Have an interim currently. Maybe just going through the motions with HR? Had more success this year than usual, with a player of the week honor and some good wins.

Had more success this year than usual, with a player of the week honor and some good wins. Sounds like Samantha was a good soldier and stayed for a few weeks after the season ended for them. As someone who has followed the team since 2014, there has been some improvement as noted, but they have never really been able to challenge for a birth in the conference tourney. Many teams at WJC face the same fate year in, year out - IMHO, the school is not highly prioritizing their D2 athletic program to the point where I think it's fair to say they might want to consider going back to NAIA status.
