Schools don’t fire a coach around this time unless it’s serious non-volleyball related stuff. And if that was the case, I highly doubt they’d write her a nice/thank you press release on her way out.

I suspect she could make more as an Assistant at a larger program than as the URI HC. Maybe I'm wrong about that, though.

She was fired. Look at her record. They also fired the last coach the same way.

The results are certainly bad. But it was surprising to me that she got hired. Two years as a volunteer assistant at Wisky, one year as AC at URI, and then HC!? Doesn't seem like she was set up for success, which is too bad.

I agree. I remember being very surprised when they promoted her.

So yes, she wasn’t qualified on paper for the job and didn’t do anything to prove otherwise. But did the AD wake up this week and realize that? Why wait that long and put yourself in a tough situation to start a search now? I’m more convinced she’s found an assistant position at a bigger program or pro team and resigned as others already said.

Normal for the soon to debt ridden and professional organization known as the NCAA. Pay the minimum and hope for lightning in a bottle. If not, cut em loose and go again for the same or less money.
Good time to leave coaching as the country tries to figure out how to navigate the inevitable: pro players who are 18-24. Full ride, cost of attendance, Alston, NIL…making more money than the coaching staff and they’re tax free? The ncaa is not too big to fail. How soon before things break off and this whole model succumbs to greed?

Yup, she was put in a difficult position when the last coach was allowed to resign after accusations from his players. Angel stepped up for the team as a young coach in a tough market. I am excited for her next chapter!
