I got to go to Memorial last year to see Kentucky play Wisconsin. It's a great old building, but, yeah, the sound was weird and some of the part of the building were falling apart. I hope the remodeling is good for volleyball. 4000 is great! Hope you get more for this match! "Gross" comes to mind for Memorial. (I know that's not proper use of the word, but it's most fitting.) New scoreboard was cool, but that dank, still-aired building...oof. You'd think girls from the swamp would feel right at home with that

As a neutral fan - it's hard not to root for Arkansas. They don't have the physicality of some other teams in terms of height / net play, but, they are overall a very steady, stable team. Gillen and Head are a fun pair of outside hitters for sure. Even as a UK fan, (a small) part of me wants to root for Arkansas. Doesn't help Gillen was a fantasy star for me a few years ago.
UK has the toughest SEC schedule amongst the top teams, but timing seems to be on their side. This game would look incredibly different if it were scheduled two weeks ago. Rutherford being back has transformed this team. What's most encouraging is 1) Deleye's passing continues to improve, and overall, our passing woes seem to be diminishing, and 2) Wilson is finding the floor more, which is huge. I'm curious to see if she can terminate efficiently against a top 10 team (versus a Miss. St. or an Alabama) but moving Goetz to M1 and feeding her the ball heavily on the slide seems to be improving our worst rotations with our M1 and OH1 alone in the front row. Arkansas's serve scares me, but some of our servers have really been stepping up (looking at you Tuozzo).
You can tell that Arkansas's starters are all juniors and seniors -- this team just gels together so well. Their serve is tough, and their side-out game is so pretty to watch. UK is going to have to play cleanly, or I don't think it's going to be close. Arkansas certainly has them beat on the consistency front. UK should be able to shut down or limit at least one of Arkansas's attackers given their size and block, but as Tennessee learned, one really isn't enough. If you shut down Gillen, Head and Cartwright will just pick up the slack. I am really excited to see Rutherford vs. Gillen/Head on the right-side. Rutherford's one of the best blocking pins in the country, so it should be a dynamic match-up.
I hate calling games, so I won't, but hope lots of non-SEC fans tune in for this. Both of these teams are playing really well right now, this should be a great match!

I feel like Gillen was always good as using Rutherford in the past. Let's hope that changes this time.

Heart says Hogs, but Kentucky with Rutherford makes me nervous. Kentucky will be more of a challenge than Tennessee, it will be a good game. I'm enjoying watching the SEC this year more than the Big Ten for sure.

Even when UK clearly had superior talent in previous years, Arkansas would find a way to stay competitive and stretch a match to 5 sets. But they could never close. To me, one of the main questions on the Arkansas side of the net is, "can they find the mental toughness to get over that hump?" Should be an exciting match.

I have nothing against Kentucky, but Arkansas is too fun to watch. Iāll be rooting for the Razorbacks, although Iāll be impressed with a Kentucky win
I think itās impressive Kentucky volleyball has taken the risk to move to Rupp Arena. Averaging 4K a match is outstanding! I bet it only goes up from here.
These Sunday tip-off times are great for NFL counter programming and getting volleyball exposure on ESPNās linear channels, but theyāre not good at all for attendance, to be honest.

I don't think Kentucky is a "long-shot", AMA.
They're right there in the conversation to host 1st/2nd rounds.
