Regarding Mel’s soft serving I really think her back starting acting up. There was one play she went low for serve receive and it seemed like she was different after that 🤷♀️

Of course my recording stops at 13-11 in the 5th. Happy to see Texas pulled out the W.
Wenaas is still frustrating as ever. Does anyone get blocked more than her? Devin isn’t a huge upgrade to Wenaas either, so I somewhat understand why Jenna still gets a lot of time.
I thought Carissa Barnes played really well this match. She started the season a little slow but hopefully settled in now and will be solid in the back row with Emma.
Nalls was on fire, and the backup TCU setter played amazing. She was running such a quick tempo it somewhat neutralized the Texas block.

Shades of the Long Beach State match, but now they can't blame the loss on Asjia being injured....

For ppl saying Texas should have "kept" Parra. . . interested to know who you would have benched last year, Logan or Madi? ? She was on the team last year, I don't think she left because she didn't get to play last year, she left because she obviously knew she wouldn't be playing again this year. I think if she was guaranteed a starting spot at Texas this year she would've stayed, but that wasn't going to be the case Personally, I think she left because she knew Madi-the-Franchise-Skinner was going to be Texas' 6-rotation OH come 2023 and 2024, and Parra wants to play 6 rotations. She knew she wasn't gonna beat out Halter or Akana for back row rotations; not sure if she already knew that Barnes would be transferring to Texas. I doubt she would have been happy simply playing 3 front rotations plus serving. She didn't even stick around for the Spring to compete against Devin and incoming freshmen early enrollee Jordyn Byrd.

Imagine a regional with: Jerritt Elliott Michelle Collier Jen Greeny Dan Fisher I'd pay money to see it. I'm sure the R1, R2, and line judges assigned for that regional would pay to swap their shifts. Omg that would end an R2's entire career I’d call in sick

Nalls being able to hit the back 2-3 feet of the court so consistently is insane. Pero, that’s what we’ve routinely been good at for years, so why we’re suddenly unable to defend it was bothersome to me.

I don’t blame Swindle for her questionable sets. She relies a lot on Skinner to get a kill since we don’t have an OH2 who can terminate. I’d still take a gamble with Devin over Jenna. Wenaas is not it and I hope she transfers out next season if she doesn’t want to sit on the bench. She doesn’t cut it for what Texas pins usually are especially when we have Kahahawai and Byrd on the bench.

I had this recording while I was at work, so when I got home and saw it still recording, I knew we went five. However, dear reader, I was not prepared for what I was to endure. A win is a win, I’ll leave it at that.

She forsure woulda got more playing time this year but i think she wanted a fresh start and also play 6 and be the best player on a team which she is doing right now…it just wasnt a good fit…no hard feelings on both sides imo…Sklyar Fields? Now thats another story lol
