I don't think I can take another year watching this middle setting. Help us Stella, you're our only hope. Like wouldn't any player after four seasons (not just those who were recruited as setters) be able to connect better setting the middle by this point?

I've pretty much felt that MN had the ability to distinguish itself from the middle of the B1G pack.
Today is such a disappointment. The team is unable to sustain momentum. Clearly a more talented group of individuals lacking cohesion.
A big chunk of this goes to Shaff. Grote was a key piece of MN offense but no longer. Either her arm/shoulder is sore, her footwork is off, or she has no idea where the set is going and cannot generate terminal power. With 2 powerful kills in the 3rd set here I think I can surmise, with some confidence, that Grote is a terminator if she gets a good set.
MB production is what it is because the set location does not allow a confident swing. VERY SAD
If the sets to Wookie & Landfair are high enough they deliver, but there's been way too much tippy stuff because they cannot attack.
And the number of arm touches in the back row on balls that were going to be long just indicates a lack of ?
You hope that the club is rounding into form and are confronted with a team that just spins like a star pitcher who has lost the ability to spin a breaking pitch.

Shaffmaster is to me the best Zone 1 defender we have. I would love for her to take that position on next season and let Stella set. Shaff has lately mentioned how much she enjoys the defense part of Volleyball. If I was KCook, I would let her be a huge part of the Gopher defense.

Podraza is enjoying (but not today) her fifth year in Happy Valley. Does MN have the scholarships to keep Shaff and bring in all of the recruits on scholarship?

It will be absolutely tragic if Stella isn’t our setter next year.

Landfair’s arm touches and amount of back row attack errors highlight her lack of court awareness.

I have no idea where this program is at with the scholarships. But I would think most of us are in agreement that definite changes need to happen in our back court, setting and middle for next season to be a more successful season. Otherwise, we can pretty much count on the same type of season we are seeing now..without Murr it could be a complete disaster without any of those areas addressed and improved upon.

Nice set for Grote.
Whatever was bothering Landfair earlier this year is gone.
