The field is almost set. Westcliff with a 5 set win. In the last match of the day, Lawrence Tech just took a 2-1 lead over Indiana Tech. Lawrence Tech wins in 4. Who should have been regular season winners of the WHAC, but had to forfeit games due to playing an player with no eligibility left early in the year. Congrats to them on their first WHAC championship. Could surprise some people, they got some talent.

Here is how I have the pools with teams current national rankings in (parentheses). I don’t think anybody below being ranked 7th will jump over a team in the tournament that went in ranked higher than them. Mount Mercy was the only team with an early round loss, but they play in one of the two power conferences, so I don’t think they will be punished.
Pool A 1. The Master’s 23-2 (1)- GSAC Champion 8. Georgetown 23-6 (10)- Mid South Champion 9. Mount Mercy 24-8 (14)- Host Bid
Pool B 2. Vanguard 14-3 (2)- At Large 1 7. Jamestown 21-1 (9)- GPAC Champion 10. Lawrence Tech (17)- WHAC Champion
Pool C 3. Grand View 22-6 (5)- Heart Champion 6. Saint Xavier 21-8 (7)- CCAC Champion 11. Reinhardt (18)- AAC Champion
Pool D 4. OUAZ 19-5 (3)- At Large 2 5. William Penn 22-6 (4)- At Large 3 12. Westcliff (22)- CalPac
Semi final A vs D Semi final B vs C

Maybe alittle conversation about 6-8 but I think you have it right. 10-12 could add some more conversation? Maybe discussing Reinhardt/Westcliff at 11/12?

Indiana Tech 3-0 over Cornerstone Lawrence tech 3-2 over Lourdes. Tech vs Tech tomorrow for the WHAC. Lawrence Tech was down 9-16 in third and then up 24-21 with a chance for the sweep before losing 32-30. Then pulled out in set 5 for the big upset. LT went 6-0 vs Lourdes and Indiana Tech this season. They dominated the WHAC all season. The forfeits took them off most people’s radar.

That might be the case but after watching them the last two days, I don’t see them being any higher than a 10 seed.

Can't count outBen U Mesa. After their loss, on their website they say they have a small chance for an at large bid. Talk about delusion. About 5-10 teams that would get it before them. That's the kind of attitude that permeates that team. There has been talk about the level of rudeness increasing at pretty much all levels of volleyball, but I would put the BenU Mesa team up there for being the most disrespectful. Look no further than the member of their team who was named their "champion of character". I won't name him here, but you can go look him up. He says some of the most insensitive things to and about opposing players that I have heard.

GSAC conference awards have been announced. gsacsports.org/news/2024/4/18/2024-gsac-mens-volleyball-all-conference-team.aspxPOY- Patrick Paragas- The Master's Freshman of the Year- Preston Schmidt- The Master's (best Libero in the nation IMO) Coach- Jared Goldberg- The Master's Huge surprise to me that Will Anderson did not win the Player of the Year and I think he should be the hands down favorite to win it nationally. I did find it a little odd that all 7 of the Master's starters made the 14 player all conference team (half the selections and more than teams nationally ranked #2, #3 and #6 combined). It is not like Masters plays in an easy conference with #2 Vanguard (2 players), #3 OUAZ (3 players) and #6 Menlo (1 player) and they are the only team with good players to choose from. That was odd

Only played in 4 matches this year, which is below 20% of the matches, so he didn’t burn a season.

Only played in 4 matches this year, which is below 20% of the matches, so he didn’t burn a season. He was among the 8 listed on Senior Night, and he is a Redshirt Senior who graduated HS in 2019. So, doubtful he'd return to BenU. 2020 - 22 matches 2021 - 18 matches 2022 - 25 matches 2023 - 27 matches 2024 - 4 matches

Pools are out
Pool A 1 Masters 8 Jamestown 9 Mount Mercy
Pool B 2 Vanguard 7 Georgetown 10 Lawerence Tech
Pool C 3 Grand View 6 Saint Xavier 11 Westcliff
Pool D 4 OUAZ 5 William Penn 12 Reinhardt
Seeding flip of national rankings of Jamestown and Georgetown for seeding. Wonder why the selection committee jumped #10 Georgetown over #9 Jamestown. Neither of these two played a top team in their tournament, so no reason to move up or down IMO.
Also #22 Westcliff jumped over #18 Reinhardt. At least in this case, Westcliff beat #16 while Reinhardt beat a team that wasn't receiving votes.

Disappointed with the lack of creativity behind the selection show. Not sure who runs Play NAIA but imo would have been nice to showcase each team (key players, ranked wins, records, etc)
