The lineup change sparked Master and they came away with a great 5 set win.
Congrats to William Penn on a great season. Very loud and vocal fan base tonight.
Great to see both the semi at the NAIA and NCAA level going 5. If you through in D3 and earlier this tournament, we have seen a ton of great 5 set matches the last week or so.
I am guessing tomorrows match also goes 5

Those watching at home. Was there a touch at 9-9? Looked like a waffle that clear the block by over a foot Wasnt at the game but heard about this from multiple different sources this was a very bad call. Was hoping for a Penn pull through but congrats to both teams what a match (from what I saw from stats lol)

Looked like a waffle that clear the block by over a foot Wasnt at the game but heard about this from multiple different sources this was a very bad call. Was hoping for a Penn pull through but congrats to both teams what a match (from what I saw from stats lol) Every match has its share of missed calls and this one had there fair share that went both ways, but this R1 was Terrible tonight. Yes, points count the same whethe they happen at 0-0 or 25-25 but when a ref misses a call as blatantly as the one tonight at 9-9 in the 5th it has a bigger impact. Ball was hit 10 feet out and cleared the block by at least a foot. Masters had taken an 8-3 lead (just like Georgetown over Vanguard) only to see William Penn come storming back and capture all the momentum. Should have been 10-9 Penn when a fantom touch was called. Maybe Masters still pulls out the victory or maybe WP goes on to win, but I would much rather it have been decided on the court and not on the ref stand. Before a couple posters start posting “but Masters calls their own touches” they are/were not the only team that has been doing that this week. Many teams have called their own touches ( but have not seen a single player call their own net, which is equivalent) and their have been tons of blatant missed nets in all the matches. Maybe the NAIA has told its ref not to call nets or they are picking “ball watchers” that aren’t watching the net. That is how we got the situation we did last year in the Park and BenU semi final). I hope we have a well played and we’ll reffed match in the final, free of any controversy.

Congrats to the semi winners. Unfortunate in one sense that the two biggest fan bases won’t be playing today - both games were fun in that regard yesterday.

Congrats to the semi winners. Unfortunate in one sense that the two biggest fan bases won’t be playing today - both games were fun in that regard yesterday. For NAIA volleyball, it would have been better (fan wise) with William Penn and Saint Xavier in the finals, just based on the fan bases they brought and I would have expected more for the finals. Masters did have a decent crowd, but just families. Georgetown doesn’t have a lot of support so it is going to be a small crowd like it has been any year Grand View wasn’t in the finals. If Masters goes with the line up they finished with last night (Perez at Libero and Oliver at OH) I think they win in 5. If they go back the line up they have been playing all year, it is Georgetown in 4 (I am assuming Georgetown is sticking with Vega in the middle and Dombrowski setting).

Lame post, we would have gone ss well as many others, but our son and many others had graduation last night. But you are comparing schools a couple of hours away to a school where you have to take multiple flights on graduation nights. Pull your lame posts down. I watched the replay, it was a touch

I watched the replay, it was a touch Whether you have to travel by multiple connections or drive 90 minutes from Oscaloosa, it doesn’t change the fact that William Penn had more fans then Masters. Saint Xavier is going to have more fans coming from Chicago than Georgetown from Kentucky. It is about Geography plus other teams also had graduation this week, so that argument doesn’t hold water. The “local” teams are always going to have more fans. That is just the facts.

Did you notice any players missing from.Master's. They went home for graduation. Volleyball is more important ? No, it isn't. But, it still was a touch and you can't let go of your team losing.

Not sure which team I am am being a sore loser for but I can tell you that Masters was not the only school that had a graduation during the tournament. Sometime we need to look outside our own little bubbles. May 2- Vanguard May 3- The Masters, Reinhardt May 4- Lawrence Tech, Jamestown

Never complained that Masters didn’t have fans. Actually complementing William Penn and Saint Xavier for having a very loud and passionate fanbase. IMO, more fans in the stands is better for the game and the players. Only four teams can bring that out with the location of this tournament based on geography (William Penn, Mount Mercy, Grand View and Saint Xavier). Everybody else is at a distinct disadvantage.

Georgetown has a lot of talent. They have not played up to their talent level because I think they were bored. When you are significantly better than your competition, you tend to play down to that level. I saw several of their matches and they almost appeared disinterested at times. They are a very senior-laden squad. They know this will be their last year playing together so I expect them to be very motivated in this tournament. I don't know if that is enough to pull off a major upset vs Vanguard, but they have enough talent to do so if everything is clicking for them. That's a big "if". Spot on.

I don’t care which line up masters brings out I got Georgetown in 4. I don’t think masters can handle their size and the wealth of attackers they got. Too many attackers to think about I don’t think the blockers will be able to keep up laterally and height wise considering Georgetown is the biggest team in the nation (I am assuming don’t fact check me) but they are for sure bigger then masters and I think we’ve got a major upset on our hands

Diego not currently wearing the libero jersey in warm ups. Looks like they are going to start with him but if I had to bet he won’t be able to handle Georgetowns size and will switch back to lib in the middle of the match
