Landfair crushes it out of the back row! I feel like that’s the first time I’ve ever seen her swing cross body from the back row. Seems like she always swings at the libero.
Also I love when she passes with her hands. They’re so strong. Makes me wish she’d take a big step forward and pass like that more often.

Solid play, solid team effort. I thought passing and overall defense was much improved, serves put a lot of pressure on Iowa.
Overall, trending good, let's keep it up against OSU.

This may be the most complete match that I've seen the Gophers play this season. Shaffmaster set a good match and was really effective at the net. It was so refreshing to see more attacks out of the middle and backrow again. I thought Murr and Z were excellent in the back row. Grote and Landfair played well. Even if it was against a bottom of the conference team, I'll enjoy the win tonight.

That was Mel's best game in a long time - great distribution, good location, smart offensive tips, got middles involved, SLIDES! Backrow attacks!
Also, I love Z in the backrow. I think I say it every time but she just brings a steadiness and for some reason, I think she and Mel connect well. Murr also was fantastic. Good all-around effort. Good job Gophs!

Hawks battled to 17 but can’t finish a set. To credit them, the attitude and fight is there even after how much they’ve lost. They still stick together but just don’t have enough talent to finish. Coaches and players seem to interact really positively. Again, I’m sure that’s a really hard thing to maintain when losing. Often you see the worst of players and coaches during something like this. They handle it with maturity and poise. Something to commend.

The coaches were also being positive, frustrated at times, but positive. |

I was at the match. Minn pulled away convincingly each set. But Landfair had some big issues passing. Several passed in the stands. She is a big hitter from back row. Just don’t know why they don’t use it more. Middles have to go behind more. Too predictable in front with setter up. I was also impressed with Iowa and their demeanor. Engaging team and coaches even in defeat.
