If you click on the ESPN+/XIInow link, you'll find (as of this posting, anyway) that ESPN+ says that K-State will be playing BYU. I contacted ESPN+, and after proving that I can actually watch the streaming broadcasts, they took my complaint, claimed that others had contacted them about it, and that they'd "take care of it." Many of the chat responses looked like canned "shift-function-X" type answers, rather than actual typed in chat messages. So, we'll see. I suspect -- regardless of what the splash screen and text says -- that the video crew which goes to BYU and sets up at the Smith Fieldhouse will record and stream the volleyball match that's played there, rather than some alternate-universe match played in Bizarro-World.  |

This could be a close one until one team is off. BYU counts on Livingston to carry. The defense of Kansas, plus Cooper being back could get them over the edge. Could be a good one.

JT, you’ve got a picture of Brielle Miller instead of Kamaile Hiapo in BYU’s roster, unless they’ve swapped bodies.  And thanks for the nice threads you've been doing. I don't get on here that much these days, or I'd have said it before.

Kansas is good, but this is a tall order… Yes, BYU is really good at home but you can argue that other than the Pitt win on the first weekend of the season, BYU lacks wins against top opponents losing to Texas (x2) and Washington state. Kansas also doesn’t have many top level wins either though, but if you look at their common opponents, Kansas has the slight edge both squads have 4 losses, with two to Texas each. BYU has its other two losses against K-state (who Kansas beaten twice), while Kansas loss @ Texas Tech (who took BYU to 5 sets @byu) and @ Iowa State. These two teams are neck and neck and I think this match will be very close. Can BYU find offense outside of Livingston, and can Kansas’ hitters stay hot against a very good block. If Kansas can limit Livingston I think they are gritty enough defensively to pull out a tight road win. |

I don't get on here that much these days, or I'd have said it before. Whoops! Donkey Shine, as the Germans say.  I try and remember to check the player Pos/Num/Name text against the picture, to make sure (when possible) that the numbers match up, but clearly missed it with Kamaile. I also review the player-URL, image-URL, and the text of the player's name when I'm making the bbCode text-file of the post, and that usually catches problems. But if you look at the URL of any of the BYU images, you'll find that they're just a mishmash hash on some proxy server. (I should probably rant about that as much as I do the crappy landscape-orientation roster pictures that Kansas and a few other teams use, but it mostly impacts the readability of my text-file, rather than the aesthetics of the match thread.) |
