yeah I honestly think Madi/Jenna are going 6 rotations this year and Reagan/Devin will fight for those opposite 3 rotations I like Devin but like let’s be for real🫣 atp I’d be somewhat surprised by anything other than Skinner/Wenaas Singletary/Ames Carlson/Rutherford (DS Akana) Halter *MAYBE* Emerick improves enough to play back row for Jenna but kinda doubt it Emerick has looked bad in the sets she has played in... I think we are really gonna miss the level of ball control Carissa provided towards the end last season. Jenna can be serviceable in the backrow, but she's still very streaky IMO.

Team has new chant when they make a block:
”She said what?”
”She said Nooooooooo” (while wagging their finger towards the court - but not at opposing team)

Swindle and Carlson are excellent setters IMO. I love how Carlson is getting time with these hitters as she hasn’t really had this caliber of talent around her on both sides of the net during practice. It will be fun to see how it goes this year. She runs such a great tempo and gets her hitters in good position to score. She seems like a steady and calm player and makes the hard things look easy which I feel like people overlook this part of her game. I enjoyed watching her when we played her the last couple of years and I am a fan. I think they both seem like great young women and I am anxious for the season to watch them compete.

Emerick has looked bad in the sets she has played in... I think we are really gonna miss the level of ball control Carissa provided towards the end last season. Jenna can be serviceable in the backrow, but she's still very streaky IMO. don’t forget about Ramirez Forget what? I've learned not to place any serious expectations on walk-on L/DS (such as Emerick and Ramirez) contributing their first season at Texas. Even the scholarship ones have a huge transition to college with the occasional exception (like Halter). As a Spring enrollee, Emerick already has a semester's worth of training up on Ramirez, and a few posters are suggesting she's struggling this week.

Lots of interesting suggestions and rationale today regarding potential starters this Fall. And, a couple of clutter posts, of course.
Over the last several years, seems like almost every incoming transfer brought in by Jerritt made huge contributions right away, and mostly as starters.
L - Morgan O'Brien; Zoe Fleck OH - Madi Skinner; Jenna Wenaas MB - Kayla Caffey; Bella Bergmark DS - Keonilei Akana; Carissa Barnes
The exception would have been Jenna Ewert at setter, but even she found her niche late in sets.
So, the questions in my mind are, why did Jerritt bring in Averi Carlson (setter), Reagon Rutherford (Opposite), and Whitney Lauenstein, and what are his expectations for them contributing this coming season? All were starters at their previous schools. I'm sure all want to play (and even start). With Molly Phillips moving on, bringing in someone with experience on the right side makes sense, especially if the coaching staff wasn't completely sold on our returnees at that position; the odds are high that Rutherford wins that spot as she doesn't have to unseat a returning starter (like Carson does at setter), and just has so much more collegiate playing experience than Devin.

I think the why is fairly easy to see. Off of last year's team, they lost a DS in Barnes, backup DS in Heinrich, an MB in O'neal, a backup MB in Bergmark, an Opposite in Phillips, and the only other setter on the roster in Crownover. He lost 2 MBs and brought in 2 MBs in Ames and Franklin. He lost on oppo and brought in Rutherford. He lost 2 DS and brought in 2 DS from HS in Emrick and Ramirez. He lost his only other setter, and brought in a 2nd setter in Carlson (correcting a hole in the roster) and a reserve in Binney. Whitney Lauenstein is then the bonus with 3 years to play 2 for after Rutherford, Skinner, Wenaas move on for 2025 and maybe 2026. He lost starting caliber players, replaced them with starting caliber players who'll compete with the players that were back ups last year. --------- Play it forward to next offseason. They're losing an oppo in Rutherford, and 2 Hitters in Wenaas and Skinner. He's already bringing in 2 hitters in Abby Vander Wal and Macaria Spears, and an Oppo in Addison Gaido. They're losing Franklin as an MB, they're bringing in Taylor Harvey. They're losing 2 DS in Akana and Heinrich, and they're already bringing in Callie Kreuger. So Expect a portal import at DS and maybe another experienced Oppo next year in addition to replacing anyone else who leaves. ---------- Elliot has roster numbers he needs to hit to keep things moving optimally in the practice gym. He wants full game rotations in his scrimmages. IF you're gonna bring people in, bring in the best you can and let them compete to get the best product and accelerate development.

You're making it way too complicated. Did he bring in any/all of the transfers to be starters or not? That is the main question. I though it was pretty simple. He's writing in new names in the same places he just erased names on the roster. Then the best player plays.
