WHAT is with the drums and air horns The match is being played in a mega volleyball gym that holds 3 courts separated by curtains. In the furthest court from the Texas match was a U12 club game going on and I guess noise makers are allowed at this level in Slovenia. After their match finished (when the horns stopped) some of the girls came over to our court to wait for their parents to come pick them up. Some watched the match but some didn’t really care. It was just a match between older kids to them.

BTW to the posters asking how Swindle broke her nose, she posted a TikTok explaining. TLDR; She fainted while showering, fell and hit her nose on the way down. After regaining consciousness, she noticed all the blood coming from her nose. Sounds really scary and am glad it was nothing serious. Agreed to the posters who’ve said she should be covered in bubble wrap. fainted while showering? that's more concerning than a broken snoot She said they had a long practice that day and then she had a photoshoot outside after. It might have been from heat exhaustion or dehydration (although she did mention she was hydrating throughout the day). She also got a concussion (but obviously cleared to play now) and has to have surgery for her nose.

I feel like the European trip is a time to experiment with things and to give everyone time on the court. The fall practices and scrimmages are where the rubber starts hitting the road.
I will say it seems obvious to me that part of the reason Kahahawai didn’t transfer is because of the notion of a 6-2 and being able to get playing time along with Rutherford. I’m not saying that’s the only reason, but it would make sense it would be a hugely contributing factor.
Also, rumor has it Cursty Leroux hates the 6-2 as much as I do, and it was a hill she was willing to die on. I also might be making that part up.

for those who hate the 6-2 i would love to hear your reasoning as to why? doesnt have to be for this team just why don’t you like 6-2 in general. also if you like the 6-2 and see some positives please state those as well

I have trouble believing there would be promises of a certain system enough to sway someone on staying or going. I could be totally wrong but I’d rather believe she was told the gap between her and Regan isn’t as wide, and she can definitely compete for time. Plus there’s still time to make a huge impact after this class graduates.

Setter can’t go over on two effectively, so it eliminates the swindle special for the most part. Interference becomes problematic. Mostly it’s about timing and ball placement. A lack of game reps and a constant transition between setters. But I’m 100% on board with Team Elliott. We have two setters I have complete confidence in. I don’t like the height difference - ergo the launch point for sets - between the two of them, but I feel like we can win a national championship with either one as the starter. If they’re co-starters, so be it. I also love our depth with our pins. I don’t like our depth in the back row. A 6-2 helps in both of those regards

I’m talking about realistic paths to playing time that exists if the possibility of a 6-2 is floated once Carlson came on board versus the more limited possibility of playing time in a 5-1 with a ultra talented multi year starting left handed opposite from a top NCAA program being brought onboard prior to her 3rd of 4 years of eligibility. With both starting outsides returning from last year. Kahahawai will still have stiff competition for a second opposite position a 6-2 opens up, so there’s no guarantees there, either. But for someone who loves being at Texas and wants a good reason to come back, the possibility of moving to a 6-2 for her junior year seems obviously enticing. I think it’s naive to think it wasn’t a factor.

I’m fine with 6-2 or 5-2 if your roster necessitates it, or you gain a true advantage from it. I can’t imagine there are many D1 teams with the talent to run either as an advantage, but Texas definitely has that kind of talent. It really depends on how much Coach Elliot wants to experiment to see if running something other than a 5-1 is more advantageous.

Softball with an epic 5 run 6th inning to keep our college World Series hopes alive. Also it would be a pretty big blow to our Director Cup hopes to have our #1 seed softball team exit in the super regionals.
Along with the fact I would prefer not to lose to A&M.
