Someone remind me. Do we lose the back row attack in a 6-2? Kind of. We’d lose Akana passing for the Opp so Madi didn’t have to, but if we had Kahahawai up front at the time she could step in and pass

But to stay on topic, are we sure Rutherford is locked in as a starter?? I liked what I saw from Devin this spring. Also would like to see Wenaas hit out of the backrow a few times. She looked really good as well this spring.

I could see her getting some PT here and there though.

From what I saw during the men's VNL, Erik's main job was to hit the challenge buzzer. (Jk I'm sure he contributes in other ways, but literally during the match that was his job) He said in "coaches corner" that since the men's game use the very sophisticated motion and fault system (better than Hawkeye), that the mens' game isn't about kills but tooling off hands. The players know that the cameras will catch touches very well and so that's their main focus of attacks.
That’s interesting. Also, men hit so much harder. More touches are going to end up out of play than with women. Men are taller, more explosive off the floor, and hit harder. I like the women’s game better because there are way more rallies. I do not find the men’s game nearly as entertaining. I like that about the difference in cameras, though. I didn’t realize the difference was that much of a delta.

if we run a 6-2, no way does Akana not ds jenna Doesn't 6-2 + Akana subbing for someone get us into substitution shortages There are different permutations. I don’t actually believe Elliott is going to run a true 2 setter system, but if he does, he can run more of a 5-2 with Swindle staying on the right side and Carlsen as the server. Doesn’t make a lot of sense since she’s not an attacker like Pitt’s Fairbanks. But the way teams like Wisconsin and Nebraska have run it there’s one DS subbing out for a left pin, with the other left pin running six rotations. Then the right pin is subbed out with a double sub with the second setter going in for a middle’s serving rotation, and a second right point pin switching out for the initial setter whose rotation would now be in the front row. It does create subbing issues if the match is tight. Also, there’s not much flexibility if a team is caught in a bad rotation. Texas really picked on Franklin in the semifinal, but there wasn’t much Wisconsin could do about it because of subbing limitations with their 6-2. Of course, it didn’t help Nebraska to have subs with their 5-1, so some of that is just a matter of Texas serving being very dialed in.

She looked really good as well this spring. I don’t know if she’s as locked in as say Skinner and Halter, but she’s a super senior All American right pin as a left hander. It’s difficult for me to conceive of a scenario where she’s not the starter.
