Smooth bounce back game. Halter is a dawggg, RR & Wenaas came back to life. Madi will probably truly wake up in the game vs Stanford, she just needs her Alpha tested. Swindle needs to stay on that court in regards to that block, Mari still has a foot stuck in quicksand, and AA is a guppie. But I still see a Big 4 Set W come Sunday if he sticks with Ella in the first 2 sets. i think madi played well! this was a good bounce back game i felt. |

don't think Texas had a single net violation Sorry, there was one by Swindle. Bad pass close to the net and she was 90 degrees to the net trying to set.

Games notes:
1. So nice to watch a "normal" game where we beat who we're supposed to beat in the fashion we're supposed to beat
2. Last year, I went to Houston and watched both games. I forgot that their coach is a yeller (at his own players)
3. I thought about recording a small snippet at him yelling at his players in their huddle, but I figured that's a bit below the belt
4. Oh and the aces!
5. Oh and the blocks!
6. Oh and the pass...did I mention aces and blocks?
7. Hate to say it, but going to have to only use the BIC once, maybe twice in each game. Other teams have obviously watched tape of Madi running the BIC 'cause they're ready for it!
8. Ella is slower to the ball and her sets are slower, but she's got a better idea where they want it cause she's played a lot with 2 of the hitters!
9. Jenna is playing better than last year
10. I loved the never-say-die attitude of them chasing down bad passes
11. I made the point to look at Rutherford's stats at the end of the 2nd set. 10 kills, 0.909. I knew it wouldn't last to the end of the game, but I've never seen that. Ever.

thought that was called a double? I think that was another lost point. I know when it happened and the down judge did the net signal and the one finger went up for Ella's jersey number I thought that was odd for an experienced player. And then, I thought yeah her broad shoulders must have rubbed up against the net as she went 90.
Later on she did try to get a ball off the net, back towards our side but the ball did spin for just a bit over their side of the net. So it was a "second ball" double after all.

I thought they played a decent game. The serve receive is going to have to be a lot better if they want to beat a Stanford team that serves really well.
