During the European trip I was asking both assistant coaches and the tour owner about the BIC. First, I started asking, "Is it true Erik and his buds at UCLA came up with the phrase BIC?"
The head of the tour company is an ex-UCLA player that may have played one year with Erik. Tour owner came back and said, "I checked and it was [name forgotten] who was on the same team with Erik and they came up with that phrase."
Later, I said to Erik and David, "So he told us that Erik and his teammate came up with BIC". Erik laughed and said, "No! You guys quit telling that story! Absolutely not. I was nowhere near that when the phrase was created"
And later, I was talking to Erik and David separately and asked, "Ummm, why didn't Wisconsin watch the Stanford tape? They just sat there surprised at the BICs" And "Ummmm, didn't Nebraska see what we did to Wisconsin or even Stanford? It seemed they were shocked to be seeing the BIC coming from Texas"
Both of them paused for a split second, rolled their eyes or chuckled and then thought very carefully about how to answer it. They answered it (while rolling their eyes a bit) in a very politically correct manner so that if the words ever made it to a tweet it wouldn't be bulletin material. And one of the them just shrugged and laughed.
I've noticed since that tournament run that Nebraska is doing a lot more BICs and definitely our opponents have watched a lot of tape of Madi running the BIC.

Zoe fleck was the perfect mentor for Halter in her freshman season. I know she’s always been scrappy but you can see the Fleck influence in her game today. An absolute stud!

This is the last year that the COVID bonus kids get to play. That was a tough year for freshmen. They came into programs where the rules for playing weren't fully established. And in Texas' case, played two seasons Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 to play the 2020 championship in Spring 2021. I've kept my eye on those who were freshmen in 2020 and moved on when it became apparent they weren't going to start at Texas. Weirdly, ALL the freshman left the team eventually with none of them playing at Texas in their last year. And Adhu Malual was a strange situation.
How things are going for our....Texas Ex's?
It was a good recruiting class, but not an outstanding recruiting class as they were/are good enough to start for other programs, but Texas recruited over them.

Don’t forget DeAndra Pierce starting at GT and doing a great job. They get a lot of production from their pins, but when she gets set, she can put down the ball

Melanie and Adhu could’ve developed into such crazy players for us. just kinda unlucky with Adhu and I still wonder what the convo was between Parra and JE because by all accounts, Parra should’ve been starting for us last season

Please pack my stuff and send it to me (Europe)"
And Parra, came to live in North Austin with a host family to improve her English and get her grades accepted by UT admissions to then have to isolate in Mexico due to the pandemic. She waited a long time to get to a starting job. And then to use her as a DS in order to get her more playing time! That was interesting.
