It definitely is. In the interview she said after turning Nebraska down Cook tried to get her to change her mind for 90 minutes, citing the NIL opportunities at Nebraska I was just being tongue in cheek I can’t keep up with this conversation, does anyone mind explaining to me please? it sounds like heavy tea Not really much to it. Someone said it felt great to steal Henley from Nebraska. In reality, they didn’t still her at all because Texas was always the heavy heavy favorite for her, having practically grown up in their backyard. She only took calls from Texas and Nebraska and z Nebraska tried to persuade her, but as Henley said in her Instagram post, she’d been dreaming of committing to Texas volleyball for many years.

Just a clarification, the “stealing of Anderson” was attritibuted to long time sports columnist Kirk Bohls, who makes his living making absurd comments to get a reaction, or generate clicks, although he employed this style long before clicks were a thing. I have a hate-hate relationship with the guy. I will enjoy when he hangs it up. It can’t happen too soon as far as I’m concerned. The problem is, he feels fulfilled knowing people like me feel this way about him, so it’s almost like I’m rewarding his behavior. I feel like people such as Kirk Bohls being at the press conferences asking his asinine questions as if he knows anything regarding volleyball is part of the reason Elliott does so few of them. He’s certainly never invited Bohls to be part of the inner circle invited to practices and other press gatherings Elliott arranges rather than full blown PCs None of that is all that important to you. I have a lot of emotions surrounding the guy where even the mention of his name can set me off - like it did here. But it’s good in its way he’s writing an article about volleyball, since he is the leading opinion writer for the Austin American Statesman sports pages, even if it’s known he’s probably going to butcher any subject he addresses, often purposefully to garner a reaction. I loathe the guy as a writer, in case that isn’t clear. Anyway, it’s not a specific poster who said Texas stole Anderson from Nebraska. It’s widdle dumpling attributing Kirk Bohls saying that and linking the article.

I can’t keep up with this conversation, does anyone mind explaining to me please? it sounds like heavy tea I don't think the tea is too hot. Here's the bit of the article I'm talking about: 5. The rich get richer: Henley Anderson, a rising junior outside hitter at nearby Dripping Springs, announced Sunday that she will continue her volleyball career at UT. But first she had to break the bad news to Nebraska head coach John Cook, who spent 90 minutes on the phone trying to still convince her to be a Husker. A 6-foot-2 outside hitter, Anderson is considered to be a top prospect in the class of 2026. “The reality is she’s a Texas kid and always wanted to represent the state of Texas and the University of Texas,” her father, D Anderson, told me Tuesday. “Nebraska really pushed hard, and they had a lot to offer.” As a freshman and sophomore, Anderson was named the Central Texas player of the year by the American-Statesman. Jerritt Elliott is still crushing it. He’s doing so well; he makes Sark look like a piker. Can you say three-peat? Elliott also landed pledges from Genevieve Harris, a setter from North Carolina, and libero Emma Cugino out of Ohio in UT's 2026 recruiting class. Anderson and Harris will compete for a gold medal with Team USA's U-19 team in July. D Anderson said NIL money was discussed, but “coaches only say what it might look like. Cook’s point to Henley was, ‘You are the top player in the 2026 class, and you should be paid that way.’ But that doesn’t drive Henley.” … This past season, Anderson averaged 4.8 kills per set while also posting 395 digs, 60 aces and 51 blocks for a Dripping Springs team that reached the Class 6A regional finals a year after Anderson and the Tigers won a state championship. I got to cover her a little in person, and Anderson is definitely all that. But I thought Texas was the school dropping bags on every one and buying players? Cook was pitching NIL? Against Texas? /s

OU @ Home on Nov. 3 and at OU Nov. 22 Georgia @ Home on Oct. 20 Complete sickos need to be eyeing those Arky and UGA matches since they're on either side of the football game with Georgia. That'd be a packed sports weekend in Austin. That's also F1 weekend (Oct 18-20th), it will be crazy packed in town

"The Road to the Three-peat" posters all around town, even in bathrooms on a Terry Petit-type beat. Since the Greg will probably already be packed, have a big screen projecting the games live in the quad (does UT have a quad?) with a beer garden. Players/coaches/staff making quick appearances at the football game and some pre-F1 events. Really hype up the fact that it's Georgia football and volleyball back-to-back with announcements, commentator mentions, and jumbotron displays at the football game. Convince bars to air the games. I suspect Georgia will be a top 25 team this year. Who do we need to talk to to get this game on ESPN? Not 2, not U. ESPN!

If anyone else is in the offseason volleyball deprivation camp, I rewatched the 6A Texas semifinals earlier today. Pretty entertaining and it was fun to watch Ames play as a six rotation player. She received serve (and held her own!) and hit mostly from the left side, with some slides mixed in, but blocked middle.
Some of the key players-
Prosper ‘24 MB/OH Ayden Ames, Texas ‘24 OH Reese Renfrow, Lewis ‘25 S Hannah Beauford, Cal
Grand Oaks (one of the better groups of hitters you’ll see at a public school IMO) ‘25 OH Samara Coleman, Pitt ‘26 OH Halle Thompson, Wisconsin ‘24 MB Jaela Auguste, Florida ‘24 OH/OPP Caelyn Emmerling, Texas State
Ames’ final stat line was 27 kills on 52 attempts with 6 errors, hitting .404! Also had 15 digs, 3 assists and an ace.
