Also, yay volleyball, keeping this post on topic to the forum and not at all political All the major cities are blue, with Austin leading the way. But the Democrats haven’t won a statewide election since 1992. Maybe Cruz is vulnerable. He has a well funded Democratic opponent. And he’s not all that likable. But outside of that I doubt seriously they win another statewide election, including the presidential race. I doubt they win that one, truthfully. And the state legislature just swung more rightward, with a lot of the more centrist Republicans swept from office in the primaries. But most of the folks who have a natural affinity for Texas volleyball tend to lean blue anyway. Probably more effective to convert football fans.

In Texas, 631,221 votes separated the 2020 presidential candidates. Over 5.64 million REGISTERED Texas voters did not cast a ballot, and a lot more Texans have been registering since then. Anything's possible. 631,221 people is 539,218 more than how many attended the Nebraska Memorial Stadium volleyball game.

The recent fundraising activity out of Texas suggests it is very much in play. My lips to god’s ears please, we pray.

Anything's possible. 631,221 people is 539,218 more than how many attended the Nebraska Memorial Stadium volleyball game. But part of the Republican strategy has been to make it more difficult to vote. Longer registration times. More evidence of voter identity. And I don’t consider Trump that great of a candidate. He’s great at mobilizing his base but he’s highly polarizing. Some of the closeness on that vote is a reflection of that. If someone could show me evidence of a well spring of registrations a la Betomania or a voter base that was less apathetic, I might agree with your point more. But I see a lot of the same forces in play that has kept Texas voting Republican present for 2024 just as much or more so than in the last election. The only exception is the senate race, but that’s as much a testament to Cruz’s weaknesses as a candidate as much as anything else. I’m not saying it can’t ever happen. The demographics in Texas are changing dramatically. The state should be in play in the future if Democrats can capture those new voters. I’m saying 2024 is not that year.

So clearly I do not follow the men’s side very closely, because I somehow did not realize Erik was on the men’s Olympic team coaching staff! Either in this thread or the SEC thread, someone posted a list of people associated with Texas (or the SEC) that were going to Paris. I think Erik was listed as the men's "team leader." I just remember not having a clue what the role would entail.

This is what I found Team Leader - Serve as primary point of contact and liaison between the USOPC and National Governing Bodies before, during and after the Games Which marginally helps. Seems like a general support staff style role.
