I’m petrified but also so excited to see our middle blockers have the test of Wisconsin right away, I am nervous about singletarys blocking but I think Ames will make up in what she lacks and vice versa. TURN ME UP I think back to when we’ve open the season with real questions at middle. Seems to happen to us quite a bit for MBU. I think back to Chiaka’s coking our party back in the day and look at the good sis now. And then there was a little miss molly who wasn’t even supposed to be a factor outside of maybe backing up the RS, and she had a field day coming out against Minnesota, if I recall correctly. I think given the expectations and the pressure to perform, whoever we start at middle will have an explosive debut. I’m sure if it

We're playing a total of 24 matches this year, while others are playing 31 (Nebraska, PSU), 30 (Minnesota, Louisville, Pitt) and 29 (Wisconsin, Florida, Stanford). I know JE tries to give rest days and minimize wear and tear, but this is a bigger differential in terms of sets played than I've seen in a while. At what point does the loss of additional game reps hurt us more than the rest days help?

TURN ME UP The worst thing that happens is the team loses. I don’t think that’s so bad of an outcome. It will be a great test. We lost our first match last year (to Long Beach State!) and the season turned out alright. I might need some reminders of what happened during the playoffs though.

At what point does the loss of additional game reps hurt us more than the rest days help? You got me. I honestly don’t believe rest days have as much to do with the schedule as RPI. If you put too many filler matches in the schedule you won’t get some of the all important RPI bonuses. I don’t think anyone is gaming RPI any better than Elliott, to the point he gave meaningful input to the rest of the Big 12 over the years, and was a powerful and effective advocate for playing fewer conference matches for RPI purposes for the SEC this season (that’s pure speculation on my part, but I do believe it). I believe that’s part of why we asked to play Ohio State twice a couple of years ago. We couldn’t get enough quality opponents on the schedule for RPI purposes. I’m sure he’s not interested in traveling for a bunch of road games simply to get more teams to play. And when you’re winning national championships while playing fewer matches than anyone else in the country it becomes a little challenging to genuflect and say, “I don’t know guys. Maybe we’re doing this all wrong.”

At what point does the loss of additional game reps hurt us more than the rest days help?As a selfish fan, I want us to play more matches so we can watch our team play them. It's been the norm now for quite a while for Coach E to schedule less non-conference matches than almost anyone. It hurt us last season as far as not being seriously considered for a Top 4 national seed because we didn't have enough/any wins over RPI Top 10 teams; and, home losses against Stanford and Wazzu took us out of contention as soon as the first reveal was released. Not giving yourself enough opportunities to notch quality wins means you pretty much have to be perfect. I do think this season's non-conference schedule is much tougher as a whole than recent schedules; 7 of 8 matches are against teams in P4 conferences; not a single smaller school scheduled. We will need the SEC to have several good teams worthy of being in the RPI Top 10/25 and we will need to win those matches, especially at Florida and Kentucky.

It actually makes me so happy for Perra to be BIG12 POY because I felt so bad for her especially in 2023 for waiting her turn

Question to those who have bought tickets to single games for this Fall, any issues?
Wife's co-worker has family coming in for the weekend of the Georgia football game and wanted 4 tickets for Friday against Arkansas and 4 tickets Sunday against Georgia.
They called the ticket office and were told to buy them through SeatGeek. They went through the entire process with SeatGeek and at the end the app told them, "Sorry, no tickets available".
Now, they've come to me asking for spare tickets.
Ha!

I just looked on SeatGeek and saw General Admission as well as reserved seats available for purchase for the Georgia match on the 20th of October. I didn't go thru the process of selecting & paying for tickets. So I don't know if they can actually be bought. Did your friends see available tickets, but were unable to complete the transaction? Or did they not see any available seats on the seating diagram?
