I was wrong, good win for Texas. They played alright but I think that Swindle should start and play the entire time. There's not that much of a deference in their setting imo. Swindle doesn't always look pretty but she's a winner and does other things well. If you keep picking against Texas - which you will - you’ll get it right some day. no he won't

how do we feel about the setting situation? truthfully, I don’t think there’s a world where we get that much production out of Rutherford today with Swindle, but on the flip side, Carlson and Madi didn’t seem to connect super well on ANYTHING and she is priority #1. I think you might have to let Carlson develop that connection with Madi as long as Carlson isn’t a liability at the net and roll with her. I love that Swindle is so able to come in and put up a block and put up a high ball to Madi when needed though. we are SO incredibly blessed lol

That’s how I view it. Beyond that it’s “In Elliott I Trust” more or less. But it’s fun to talk about them. They’re both good in different ways. Mostly I’m overjoyed we’re not doing 6-2 shenanigans.

Also Rutherford is a beast. I’m already missing her after only one year and it’s only been one match.

If only we could smush them together to create the ultimate setter, mwah ha ha ha

She is much better overall and really didn't get abused on the block as expected. Ella cannot set anything but a high ball to the left and that simply won't work. This team has to many weapons that all showed signs of clicking with Carlson.

She is much better overall and really didn't get abused on the block as expected. Ella cannot set anything but a high ball to the left and that simply won't work. This team has to many weapons that all showed signs of clicking with Carlson. Well, she played the most. Gabriel didn't get abused on the block until she did. San Diego's Blossom wasn't abused on the block until she was. Carlson was absolutely an issue in the front row at times at Baylor. I'm not saying that she shouldn't be the starter, shouldn't be playing most of the match, or shouldn't be playing the entire match even. She's smooth as butter on those backsets. She consistently freezes the middle blocker in ways Swindle doesn't. But to suggest Swindle in the front row isn't a better option in terms of blocking or attacking on two is disregarding common sense. Are we trying to win most of our regular season matches? Carlson is probably the answer. Are we trying to win another national championship going against Nebraska in a rematch? The answer isn't quite as clear to me.

If only we could smush them together to create the ultimate setter, mwah ha ha ha and Texas still rolled Wisconsin in the last 2 sets like they were Nebraska Fairleigh-Disckinson in the first round of the tournament in Austin. I'm not the biggest Volleyball expert, but I said this from the very beginning. It's not one or the other. It's both. It's not who plays it's when they play. They have 2 different styles of setters. JE will use both depending on the matchups and the game situation. It's not who plays, it's when they play. Personally, I thought Averi was more hit and miss than Ella was. Ella was more precise while Averi more accurate with the sets.
