The setting battle was more of the same tonight IMO. Both connected well with the hitters tonight, with Ella providing a blocking advantage and Averi having a little better location and touch. The strengths and weaknesses of both have played out pretty much exactly like I thought they would early on. Still feeling blessed we get two high caliber setters! Did each setter play primary setter for the entire set (first 2 for Carlson; last 1 for Swindel) other than double sub? That makes more sense versus pulling a setter during a set (unless they're truly struggling); in the end, you have to win the set since your goal is to win the match. So, the coaches can't wait too long if poor setting could lead to losing the set. Looking at the stats through 3 matches; Carlson has 86 assists, while Swindle has 31 assists. Is there any question who our main setter is at this time? texaslonghorns.com/sports/womens-volleyball/stats/2024

I'd like to see the timing and context. Honestly, I think that's just coach-speak. While I'm sure he's telling both setters to keep working hard in practice and to bring it during the actual matches, Carlson has started the last 2 matches, and played the most sets and points. The ratio of assists is in favor of Carlson almost 3:1.

would like to see the blocking be more effective A couple of times it was very obvious we have a true freshman MB. Didn't get close to the correct side to help out on a block.
