folks, the reality lurking in the shadow-world is that this can get worse. if today's team shows up in waco, baylor might just thump them.

Well obviously burning Whitney's redshirt today opens up a lot more offensive options.
But so far, the team has gone where Reagan has - in matches where she plays well, we win, because she opens up the offense pin-to-pin and takes pressure off the outsides. But in matches where RR isn't playing well, we lose

isn’t the point of an elite setter to set well even if the passing is bad? like any ncaa setter can set well when the passing is good…. if that's true...what happened to reilly in the natty championship match then? the poster is right — see: gabby blossom, national semifinal match against texas (or any gabby blossom match tbf)

We lost 5th senior starters in Asja, Bella, Molly, and Carissa; you didn't expect a fall off? That's half the lineup. We were very fortunate to bring in Rutherford, Whitney, and Carlson. But, not bringing in an experienced transfer middle blocker is the biggest head scratcher, followed by not bringing in an experienced transfer DS. Young (raw) talent is great to have; but, it's very inexperienced and can't hold a candle to 5th year seniors. I never said I didn't expect a fall-off. Of course a team in early September isn't going to look as good as the previous team in December. But in 2023 we were replacing the setter, libero, and go-to outside—not just key positions, but important leaders on the court. Because of that, I expected last season to have a lot of growing pains. That's what I meant by work-in-progress. Based on who was returning this year—starting setter, libero, both OHs, and another primary passer in Akana—and the extra practice the team got on the European trip, I thought things would look cleaner to start the season. Not Championshion level by any means, but I don't think it's unreasonable that I expected less of a mess at the beginning.agree with this.

Skinner/Whitney (DS Akana) Singletary/Ames (Ames serving) Carlson/Rutherford (Swindle/Devin, Devin being next to Whitney to pass for 2 of the 3 rotations) Halter
if we get close to running out of subs, keep Swindle/Devin in for Swindle’s height at the net and so Devin can step in and pass for Whitney.
JE I can send you my Venmo if you need it /s

I think in my situation though, you’d keep Swindle/Devin in an extra half rotation and let Devin top spin serve (although Carlson’s serve can be effective. can always interchange based on opponent or if Devin is high error)

But in matches where RR isn't playing well, we lose this was the unfortunate part of Rebo at Kentucky, she can look other worldly at times but she can also completely take herself out of the match with repeated errors. If she had just an average match Kentucky would’ve swept their way to the elite 8 last year, but she was nowhere to be found and we lost in 5 to a conference member that hadn’t beaten us in years. She was what some would refer to as a “picky” hitter - she needs a very specific ball and placement to be effective and cannot adjust her approach speed well, whether that be speeding it up or slowing it down to adjust to not perfect sets. She had the tendency to be very un-clutch in big moments…:/ I like rebo a lot so I hope she does better for u all as long as it’s not against my teams lol
