You know when they lost that 3rd set, PTSD set in haha. I've never seen Madi have so many bic kills in one match in a while. It was great to see. Jenna had 3 kills off her 2 handed push. It was comical because as a coach, I would be furious not to pick those up. I'm not bought in. I'm ready for Byrd or Helmer to be given a chance if she's not producing. The bench is ready. I was thinking it was because of the block for Devin subbing in for Rutherford but that's it. So happy the slide is back. We knew Mari and Ayden have great slides but not utilized.

They are loaded at middle .....but are the current middles helping Texas? No. I'd expect transfers in at that position next season. Both Texas middles way too slow at seeing, reading and being in the right place on defense. OHs pop off playing Texas for a reason. All 3 are good at offense, but all 3 on defense...... ? Ouch. I get it however Singletary has been decent at the block,I agree with your sentiment about Ames and Bunton. Often times these kids are hyped out of high school and it doe not translate to the next level right away. People forget these recruits still have to prove their value. Texas has been spoiled by big blocks and touches for years with the previous middles. Harvey coming in will be good but she is offensive as well,I do believe her blocking is better than Ames however.

Exactly. I don't know if that was the same poster, but someone else said BOTH blockers were bad defensively. Can't imagine one of the nation's leaders in blocks/set is bad defensively.

This last game was more planned and effortless. She was getting dug a lot in most games but not this one. An efficient Madi is VERY HARD to stop.

To be honest, I look at the stats and go, "Oh, wow. She does better than we all criticize her for."
Her offense was serviceable, but the 17 digs and 21 receptions with only 1 reception error are what make it clear Jenna will stay on the court. Mississippi State isn't the toughest opponent, but I don't think any of the outsides on the bench have a platform good enough to get those numbers right now, no matter the opponent.

Just fyi, I created the Texas 2025 thread that will populated with fancy graphics after the season is complete. A few years ago a frienemy created a Texas season thread and that just won't do.

Helmers is injured again. Maybe there are specific rotations when Byrd could come in for Jenna in the front row; like simply for quick side out. No way Byrd is going to be better than Wenaas in serve receive or in digs. uofaGRAD it might be time for you to re-state what you did this summer about how important it is to have Wenaas on the court in regards to how it benefits Skinner hitting from the back row.

It's the struggle in offense that we need Byrd or a healthy Helmers will be needed. Her numbers doesn't show everything. And when Wenaas has a bad game in serve receive and offense like the last 3 previous games...and what?

Maybe it’s time to come to the understanding that if Helmers or Byrd were a viable option over Jenna on either offense or passing, we would’ve seen them by now
Clearly the staff feels that isn’t the case

It sort of works short term, but has resulted in some lopsided offensive numbers. Jenna & DevIn just didn't get as many good sets. IMO long term it would be better if the sets were more evenly distributed. I thought Jenna did the best she could with the sets she got, and the two handed plays were to compensate for bad sets that she managed to get points on.
