I've actually been there - a national historic site (complete with a large bronze pig statue) on San Juan Island. BTW, the San Juan's are absolutely beautiful and well worth visiting...

No surprise, probably, but I've been there multiple times. San Juan Island is just the right size to ride a bike around on. Not too difficult to ride from the ferry dock to the English Camp (nice and scenic) and then the American Camp (kind of desolate) and then back to the ferry dock. The entire circuit is about 35 miles.

Yep, my ancestors were pioneers to Orcas. Visited there a lot when I was a kid. Beautiful place but got to busy for my taste.

Took the Sidney-Anacortes ferry with my family a while ago. The stop at Friday Harbor was longer than I thought it would be. There were a few things I didn't quite get on that ferry ride. One was the duty free shop. The prices sucked and it was only open for maybe 12 minutes since we would cross the border fairly quickly. I suppose it's open longer in the other direction. The other was the food was pretty bad. Fortunately we brought some snacks and fruit. The food on BC Ferries looked much better even if we didn't have much time for it.

Food on the ferries is only for when you are desperately hungry.

Food on the ferries is only for when you are desperately hungry. It wasn't just that. There was barely anything at the ferry terminal in Sidney. But I get it. How many people actually take the ferry?
