Additional question: How many of an individual team's conference matches will be on BigTen+? All of them? Or just selected matches? I'm sure I'll sign up, regardless. Should be all of them. I've been subscribing to the Big 10+ and all of the matches matches that aren't on the live channel should be available. Correct. If they're on BTN, they'll be added to B1G+ on demand sometime after. Unless they're playing Michigan in Cliff Keen... then all streaming bets are off.

Been trying to tell you that, while Pac-12 Net production and distribution sucked, they should get credit for showing lots and lots of volleyball. Not going to find that kind of coverage on other networks. Washington only being on BTN reflects their perceived finish in the conference. Teams expected to be in contention are on significantly more. Wisconsin is on BTN 12 times this year. Nebraska will be on 15 times. They should hype as many rivalry matches and put those on BTN as possible. The hosting team usually attracts lots of fans for the in-arena optics, and it's usually intense high-quality volleyball. Hyping the same handful of schools for the same crowds doesn't do anything to actually grow the sport. There is no reason why Nebraska needs to be on TV 15 times, while other quality programs are on 5 times. This is womens college volleyball, it's not an NFL match.

Nebraska will be on 15 times. There is no reason why Nebraska needs to be on TV 15 times well, other than nebraska/wisconsin/probably minnesota are money makers for BTN....

Hyping the same handful of schools for the same crowds doesn't do anything to actually grow the sport. The evidence doesn't support this. BTN's volleyball scheduling has increased viewership dramatically since its inception. We have at least three national TV broadcasts on NBC this year alone (and there may be more, I only noticed Nebraska's and Wisconsin's). They have highlighted the schools that draw eyeballs to TVs, and not surprisingly, viewership rose accordingly.

I will agree that the Big 10 tv coverage pales in comparison to what the Pac-12 offered as it relates to FULL volleyball coverage, but the BTN+ is the superior platform as the matches are available on demand to watch at our leisure (though I don't think the live ones are, which is a shame).

The viewers for nebraska/wisconsin/minnesota games have allowed them to expand their VB coverage. BTN doesn't have anything to gain from showing games that no one is going to watch (unlike some of the PAC12 Networks that arent airing anything else anyways). the downside to the B1G expanding is there is only a finite amount of time slots... and there will be have/have nots. And that's part of growing a women's/underrepresented sport (and even part of the major men's sports).

Volleyball is more popular than ever, and Texas, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Penn State to an extent, Florida, Kentucky, Louisville... these are the programs spearheading those ratings, and the growth of the sport. BTN has been a pioneer in the rapid rise in interest in this sport. The argument you're making is that Iowa should have had equal air time as other Big Ten teams to "grow the sport," when in reality Caitlin Clark was 90% of the reason viewership skyrocketed. She was the show, so, rightly, they put her on the air as much as possible. Ratings increased as a result.

Yes, that is it. For other matches, you will to subscribe to BigTen+, and watch online. I'm sure I'll sign up, regardless. All, or almost all of the games not on TV, will be streamed on BigTen+. But, these are not network TV productions. They are the home school's stream. Some are pretty good. Others...not so much.

If I were in town I'd be going to both the pre-game talk and the exhibition, but I'm on an island in the Salish Sea. If anyone does go, I'd love to hear impressions. I did get my season tickets yesterday and they are safely in my Apple Wallet.
