And Montana State drops a 5th setter. Ugh, just freaking ugh.

who's out of lgbt after this year? Endsley, Fletcher, Bays, and Tulino will have exhausted their eligibility. Bush, Wilmes, and Wilson will have a 5th year available.

Interesting lineup experiments in the WSU match. -setters/RS pairs were the same, but flipped in the serving order: Against WSU Wilson set 2 rotations with Hunt and Barton up front (only 1 rotation with Endsley passing), Haury set 2 rotations with Wessels and Endsley up front (2 rotations with Endsley passing). Did this help with not getting stuck in certain rotations or setting the middles more? -they tried replacing Endsley with Wilmes for a set. Seems like what Endley bring in grit and hitting efficiency currently outweighs any extra court that Wilmes can cover in the passing rotation at least for this match

Seems like what Endley bring in grit and hitting efficiency currently outweighs any extra court that Wilmes can cover in the passing rotation at least for this match Leslie started Wilson for what I think was the first time this season. I don't think the lineup changes regarding setters made too much of a difference. The biggest change was putting Endsley back in for Wilmes in the third set and deciding to take Endsley out of serve receive in sets 3 and 4. That meant a two-person serve receive when Endsley was on the court and the Huskies did pretty well with it. It remains to be seen how a two-person SR will hold up against some of the better serving and better coached teams in the B1G. I don't have a lot of confidence that Endsley can really improve that much on SR, mostly because we saw a pretty good sample size of her SR last year and she was the worst receiver of the five Huskies who had substantial reps.

Thanks for the game report!
I think it’s a good sign that both setters connect well with all the hitters since rotation shifts didn’t make much difference. It is sure nice to have 2 high quality setters!
Agreed re: Endsley and serve receive substantial improvement possibilities and concerns about a 2-person reception against tougher serving teams.

The Wessels/Hunt combo kinda reminds me of the Sybeldon/Wade combo.

The Wessels/Hunt combo kinda reminds me of the Sybeldon/Wade combo. That's a good memory -- the best pair of middles I've seen at UW. But Hunt is much further along than either Sybeldon or Wade at this stage of their college careers.

Washington had some formidable middle duos in the past, including: Darla Myhre/Aleesha Deesing, Jessica Swarbrick/Bianca Rowland, Lauren Barfield/Bianca Rowland, Lianna Sybeldon/Melanie Wade, Lauren Sanders/Avie Niece etc. I am excited about this new duo. Edit: and how could I forget one of the best middle duo: Makare Desilets/Leslie Tuiasosopo

The Big 10 publishes stats for every team in non-con play so that you can compare your team to other Big 10 teams. The obvious caveat is that the strength of schedule varies widely (and Washington's SOS does not compare favorably to teams like Nebraska, Wisconsin, Oregon, Purdue, etc.). Nonetheless, there are some revealing stats for the Huskies:
-middle of the pack in hitting percentage (.258) (#10)
-#1 in opponent hitting percentage (.124)
-#4 in blocks per set (behind Purdue, USC, and Oregon)
-middle of the pack in digs per set (#8)
-towards the bottom in service aces per set (#15) (and yet we are above Nebraska, Wisconsin, and USC)
-close to the bottom in reception percentage (#16) (no surprise there; we are only ahead of Oregon (!) and Maryland)

Hey Washington fans! I may make the match thread for next Saturday's match against Illinois and wanted to see if you'd share a lineup prediction for Washington. I usually try to include likely lineups for each team in my match threads, basically including everyone who has regular rotations, all the way down to serving specialists. Below is an old example of what I try to add. Any help with the Huskies would be appreciated. Thanks!

They sure are, and it seems like clearly the right choice for personnel available.
