Thanks for the help! Didn't know they were running a 6-2.
They sure are, and it seems like clearly the right choice for personnel available.
Nice!

really proud of the ladies. sure, the schedule hasn't been the strongest but to pull out some of the 5 setters they had shows they can fight. hoping they can finish this portion of the season going undefeated to have more confidence heading into conference play.

I would assume so. Zero play so far.

She played four seasons at Santa Clara, though one was 2020. This is already her 5th year in college, so probably doesn't have a redshirt year available.

The Wessels/Hunt combo kinda reminds me of the Sybeldon/Wade combo. That's a good memory -- the best pair of middles I've seen at UW. But Hunt is much further along than either Sybeldon or Wade at this stage of their college careers. I agree. Hunt looks darn good. No wonder she was the KY Gatorade Player of the Year. She'll only benefit with more playing time.

I gotta start ranking the Huskies. They look good. They are not the most flashy team, but they get it done.
I could easily see a top 6 finish in the B1G for them.

is Fletcher out today too!? Ugh, get well huskies. We need to be full strength for Big 10 play. Since the game wasn't televised anywhere (and we don't have a recap posted on the UW website), we really don't know what's going on with a) Barton, who missed her fourth match in a row; b) Fletcher, who apparently did not play at all today; and c) Haury, who recorded only 5 assists and no digs (Wilson had 37 assists). I'm not assuming the latter two are injured but the lineup today was a big departure from what we've seen so far. Amazingly, the Huskies just keep winning without their best pin hitter and, today, without a talented OPP and setter.

Looking at the box score from today's game against Pepperdine, we see some familiar trends reappearing:
- the Huskies started slowly, losing the first set and hitting around .100; they played better and better as the match went on, raising their hitting percentage with each successive set, hitting over .400 in the fourth set
- my favorite stat this season, opponent hitting percentage, was .105 today for Pepperdine; going into this match, Pepperdine wasn't exactly burning it up (averaging a little over .200), but bear in mind they've played some excellent teams including Pitt, USC (twice), Hawaii (twice), and Stanford; I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that the Huskies will be a top 10 or top 5 team in opponent hitting percentage when the stats come out next week
- Julia Hunt returned to her usual awesome form, leading all players with 18.5 points and a .455 hitting clip
- the Huskies out-blocked the Waves 13-6
- the Huskies had 12 aces (against 13 service errors); the Waves had 9 aces (still too many; Wilmes continues to struggle in serve receive)
- I was glad to see Tulino see some action although we don't really know in what capacity
Leslie deserves a lot of credit for guiding this team to an undefeated non-con schedule, and doing so while missing our best pin hitter for about half of the matches. The fact that Huskies keep coming back from deficits must say something about team chemistry and coaching.

While Washington has not had the toughest schedule, they have beaten a lot of teams I expect will start piling up more wins once they start conference play. I hope they (and everyone else) can get healthier. The first half of the league schedule is manageable, but they will need to be clicking for the second half! Yikes!

No idea why Fletcher was out, Barton hasn't played since the fourth set against UC Davis but doesn't seem to be using crutches or a brace. From the play by play Tulino and Haury were paired up in the 6-2 in set one and at least the early part of set two. Tulino had 1 kill and 3 errors I believe. The rest of the match the Huskies played a 5-1 with Wilson setting.
