A couple years ago when the NCAA still made the schools hold open practices, Colgate was Wisconsin's first round opponent. After the Colgate practice, their head coach, Ryan Baker, came around to the maybe two dozen people who were there, introduced himself, asked what brought us to the practice, did we have relatives playing, etc. When I told him I was just a fan with some curiosity, he told me that his wife had played for Wisconsin's head coach Kelly Sheffield when Sheffield was coaching at Albany, that they were big Sheffield fans and so big Wisconsin fans (when they didn't have to play against UW, of course).
Nice guy, very personable. I hope his team can give Creighton a battle.

Wrong color, right state. Go KBB and the Jaelaskers. Phew! For a second there, I thought I'd messed up the colors for either Creighton or Colgate!  (It happens fairly often during the first bit of thread creation, when I'm copy/pasting from an earlier thread and seeing what it looks like after I've made "all" of the changes, before I actually hit "Create Thread.")

Creighton is making their 13th NCAA tournament appearance. The Blue Jays are 48-48 (.500) in sets played since their first appearance in 2010. They have reached:
Elite Eight 1 time -- 2016
Sweet Sixteen 1 time -- 2015.
Colgate is making their 6th NCAA tournament appearance. The Blue Jays are 0-15 (.000) in sets played since their first appearance in 1996.

I mean that was before I followed volleyball like I do now, but that kinda shocks me Yeah, I found this blurb in their statistics page talking about KBB's 2nd season at the helm: Jays Surpass Win Total From Last 2 Years With an 18-11 record, Creighton surpassed its win total from the previous two seasons combined. Last year’s squad finished 12-18 in coach Kirsten Bernthal Booth’s first season at the helm. That was a marked improvement over the 3-23 team she inherited in February of 2003. |
