Creighton is making their 13th NCAA tournament appearance. The Blue Jays are 48-48 (.500) in sets played since their first appearance in 2010. They have reached: Elite Eight 1 time -- 2016 Sweet Sixteen 1 time -- 2015. Colgate is making their 6th NCAA tournament appearance. The Blue Jays are 0-15 (.000) in sets played since their first appearance in 1996. Creighton only became prominent in 2010?? I mean that was before I followed volleyball like I do now, but that kinda shocks me The story is well known around these parts. Unfortunately, all the good articles are behind paywalls now. Creighton volleyball was not good. When Creighton was looking for a new volleyball coach, Creighton's AD at the time (Bruce Rasmussen) called Terry Pettit for a recommendation. KBB had played/been a grad assistant with Pettit's daughter and left an impression on him. Pettit recommended Booth, and some else posted the win/loss history, so you can see how it worked out. Creighton keeps taking steps, but outside of the 2015/2016 runs, for a variety of reasons (key injuries in conference tournament/opening round), keep failing to get out of the first weekend when at home. I like the Bluejays (yes, one word) chances this year. Creighton already had the injury bug, so there's more depth this year. Minnesota is going to need to play a great game against Utah State to beat them, but Minnesota does have a pretty good size advantage. I don't know that the Gophers can do it two days in a row. Creighton already beat Minnesota at Minnesota without Sis, so while I won't guarantee a win/Creighton beating the jinx this time, I am hopeful that this is the year.

Pettit recommended Booth I haven't seen anything on them being GAs together but she was a senior at Lincoln East HS when Terry Pettit's daughter was a freshman. She also worked at some of the camps coach Pettit held in the Lincoln area. She made a good impression on him as well as her early coaching career so he recommended her when he was working as a consultant for the Creighton hiring committee. Prior to then, she had coached at Kirkwood CC and been successful. She was also briefly interim Iowa coach at some point. She had been a volunteer assistant coach while she was doing grad school here and they fired everyone but her and made her interim coach. Prior to that, she hadn't planned on coaching long-term but fell in love with it. Another interesting element of that story was that both the hiring committee and the team all wanted to hire a different coach who had more experience since she was so young. They were vetoed by Creighton's AD at the time in favor of KBB. Apparently the team threatened to walk out in the immediate aftermath but she won them over quickly. I don't know the exact timeline, but the Creighton team was playing in a HS gym. I think their first year playing in better facilities was her first year coaching or the year before that.

Interviews with Norah and KBB. Some of the questions were a bit hard to hear.

Good history! To add to it.. By my count, since the program was reconstituted in 1994, the Jays have played home matches in 7 different venues. Can you name them? I’ll post the answer in the 4:00 CT hour.

They also once played home matches at the Civic auditorium and the Vinardi Center As for the high school gym I can't remember which one -- I want to say Omaha South but I don't know if that is right.

Late posting this, but what I came up with is: 1994-1996 Kiewit Fitness Center on campus 1997 7 matches at Skutt HS and 4 at Marian HS 1998-2002 South HS 2003-2008 Civic Auditorium 2009-Now DJ Sokol Arena on campus, with home matches vs Nebraska at Quest/Century Link/CHI Health Center
2003, the year of the move to the Civic, coincided with KBB's first year at the helm.
I didn't see where Jays ever play at the Old Gym. boxcariii Did your list match mine?

Yes. Though the official record book has 9 at Skutt. Page 94 (bottom of the page). 96 using the tool at the top. Rob Anderson/Creighton have great media guides.

Just making sure the prayer circle to keep Creighton healthy this weekend is still working! I hope everyone is wearing a concussion-proof helmet and being kept in a protective bubble when they are not eating or practicing!
