RAM and the coaching staff pulled all the right strings. Tried to let them work it out when possible, subbed in Tali who really stabilized several facets, subbed in servers, etc. Phenomenal job by the team. Showed some real resilience. Hope it carries over to tonight

I was simultaneously amused and annoyed when the TV announcer kept pronouncing "Wahine" as wa-HEE-neeee.
Anyway, I just finished the 3rd set.
For the first half of the second set, I didn't think Hawaii played that much better than in the first set. It's just that Iowa State came back down to earth.
On to the 4th...

Every time they do a close up of the Hawaii bench and show Nick Castello giving animated instructions to one or two players, I reflexively think about that Hawaii fan (forgot the name...sorry) who constantly moaned about Castello's over-coaching. I think I kind of understand that Hawaii fan's feelings now because I put myself in the shoes of the Hawaii players who're on the receiving end of Castello's instructions and...yeah...I might get annoyed, too. Like, "Christalmighty, Nick, I got it, 'kay...I got it."

Watching the replay....I can't believe Hawaii was really down 6-13 in the 2nd set and already got blown out in the 1st set...before they made their big run and ultimately willed their way to victory. So proud of them!
They could have easily folded and called it a night...but they gutted it out. I believe some fans questioned this teams mental toughness over the season which was very legit. But they definitely played up mentally and got the job done.

I only tuned in at the end of second set. Now not so confident against Ducks.

major props to this iowa st team ... it really looked like they hawaii's number in the early stages of this match. they were playing lights out, especially their serving and the speed and balance of their offense.
duckworth and gonzalez delivered the booming kills, but i thought their middles (hopp and engelbrecht) showed up and provided some nice offense too.
but of course, so glad that the wahine were somehow able to turn things around ... even if it was really late in set 2 ... tough on the nerves as a fan, but nothing a good stiff drink didn't ease ... haha!

That and Ah Mow like cow, not row. C’mon man, if you’re gonna announce a televised sporting event, the least you can do is your homework and pronounce the names correctly. I mean if you can pronounce Tagovailoa, Tuiasosopo, and Giannis Antetokounmpo correctly, just to name a few, you should be able to say Ah Mow the right way. One reason I like Kanoa Leahey is he seems to try and learn Hawaii’s opponents’ names, if they’re difficult to pronounce, rather than butcher their names on T.V.

Don’t let the Cornhusker name fool you. IOWA is the best/most corn producing state by a large margin. Nebraska may take our volleyball talent, but they can’t compare to the state of Iowa in corn! You produce the most corn, but Nebraska corn is the best quality. Everyone knows this.
