Yes please! I'm an NBA/MMA fan over Drag race any day of the week. Y’all don’t get a special cookie for being masc… also you’re inferring a lot about my gender expression based on one reference I made lol. Wild. Maybe we stop gendering stuff and let people enjoy things idk. You must be fun at parties. And contrary to popular belief not every gay man is YASSSSS Queeen saying, purse carrying, make up wearing Drag race gay.

It was a joke post like what is happening lol Literally my whole point is that people can express themselves however they want. You’re not better than those makeup wearing, purse carrying gays because you like MMA. You’re more than entitled to not watch a tv show and be as masculine as you want. But keep your femmephobia away from my silly drag race references.

Gender is a biological fact. Is that congruent with it also being a construct?

So “gender is a construct” refers to the way society and cultures treat certain traits, interests, etc. as masculine, feminine, etc. And by calling for it to be “torn apart” I think miss Sasha Velour means we have to be a bit more aware about how/why things are treated based on their associations to masculinity/femininity. At risk of getting wayyyy too far off course in this volleyball transfer tea thread I’ll leave it at that - lots of great LGBTQ+ resources online for a deeper dive.

How did this gender disporia debate start? It seems some would rather discuss their sexuality than volleyball transfers.

I might have missed it, but everyone from the Nebraska starting lineup responded to TL's commitment post except for Batenhorst, Krause, and Orr. I know that TL is a former AA and B1G POY but I think this is a bad idea. Nebraska just finished 2nd in the country with no seniors. I think this is more about Wisconsin than anything else. Batenhorst, Krause and Orr are extremely tight and that could create a problem. And to make matters worse is right in the middle of those girls is Lexi Rodriguez.

I can agree with everything you're posting, but I don't think I understand what is meant by "gender is a construct." Gender is a biological fact. Is that congruent with it also being a construct? I think you’re conflating “gender” with “sex.” “Sex” is biological. “Gender” is psychological. But I don't think it's completely clear exactly how much is driven by biological imperatives and how much is driven sociologically. It's proven that a wide range of our impulses can be broken down and rebuilt sociologically/psychologically, depending on what kind of incentives/deincentives are applied. That's a huge part of what makes the human brain so remarkable. It's elasticity. What our cultures and societies attempt to inculcate from one generation to the next is critical in that way. But the basic hardwiring occured over millions of years. To ignore how we evolved to be who we are as humans right here and right now seems like a misstep, even if we have the power to override our programming from one generation to the next, which is also important. It's not to say we should or shouldn't override our programming. There are a lot of behaviors hardcoded into us as a species that I'm glad we're trying to object to as a species. Genocide, for example. But when those traits are hardcoded, and it's my opinion that gender is not just psychological, but there are some biological aspects as well - although I may not be using the term in the same way the LGBTQ+ literature uses it, so it may not be an apples to apples comparison - then they're going to reappear in the next generation if the same level of socialization is not applied. That's a part of why definitions are important, and why I asked what is meant.
