What is the point of having recruiting rules if programs can and will break them without consequence? In general, the severity of the rule breaking isn't my issue - it's almost immaterial. I don't make the rules, so therefore I actually have little opinion on "severity". The NCAA has created what it has determined to be a fair and equitable process for recruiting student athletes. What I do care about is holding programs accountable for when they do break those rules and it has become crystal clear to me that the only one thing that can actually hold heavily resourced programs accountable for breaking the rules is to ban them from NCAA sanctioned competition. Monetary fines or some reduction of recruiting visits or whatever just doesn't work. If you want to change the recruiting rules, by all means go for it, I don't care, but there currently ARE rules and picking and choosing which rule breaking is serious and which is not just seems unnecessarily arbitrary. How about schools just follow the rules, it's not that difficult. So you have definitive proof that USC is tampering? Interesting. You should turn that into the NCAA. Wait, no, it’s just your abject dislike of USC and making accusations without foundation? Color me shocked 🙄 I don’t feel like that post was directed squarely at USC, but rather in general. Anyway, I heard Devin was actually transferring to the USC rowing team, and also a little water polo on the side.

It’s more a commentary on that particular poster constantly taking pot shots at USC for no discernible reason.

I didn't accuse USC of doing anything, in fact, I didn’t even mention USC at all. I have no idea regarding Devin and USC and whether or not they are in contact. However, IF schools ARE breaking recruiting rules, my position is that they should be banned from competition - I have said this in the past - and I’d have the same opinion if it were Washington breaking the rules. Not sure why that’s me taking a shot at USC? If I was taking a shot at USC, I’d be pretty blunt about it…I’m not one to mince words in my posts.

Yeah there’s just no way to realistically stop back channel communication. How are you gonna prohibit an SA to talk to their friend on another team, or speak in hypotheticals with their old club coach? It’s just not feasible. And if y’all think it’s bad in volleyball…I have some news for you about a sport called Football where players have multiple agents, NIL contacts, and way more ways to connect with programs (both ways).

WBB portal is a bit busy...will volleyball see similar numbers with no transfer restrictions? Okay, question out of ignorance: what's the total pool of teams that could have transfers? I'm wondering what scope of denominator goes with that numerator of 1004.

NAIA and JUCO can transfer but they are not in the portal. The portal is an NCAA system. 1004 was probably just the D1 transfers but for more context... WBB Teams D1 - 360 D2 - 297 D3 - 429 Currently 1880 players in the portal, about 1700 of them since spring semester started and almost 1600 since March 1.
