There's only one girl in that picture that doesn't look happy and that's the one that is not going to Wisconsin. why is it always that when women don't bear the biggest smiles at all times, they're suddenly unhappy? Because women aren’t pretty when they don’t smile. If she would just smile, she’d be so much prettier. |

I think it would be hard to enter the portal, then announce your mission, and then return to BYU a a volleyball player is probably what the OP is suggesting. To forfeit your scholly and then ask for it back in 2-3 years is a bit much and seems diff than the regular mission-taking process. Yes it does. What I’m saying is that doing one does not preclude the other regardless of how unusual it is. I am with Hipster on this. Go on a church mission, fine. Hit the transfer portal also, makes no sense? It tells us all is not fine in Provo with her and the Bower train that runs through that program. Damuni wasn't going to start, which means she wasn't going to play in front of the new Bower freshman. Damuni would sit the bench her entire career in Provo because she is older than Bower. She can come back from a mission and Bower will still be there so it makes zero sense for Damuni to play for BYU. Olmstead is slowly (maybe not so slowly) making a name for herself that if a player is being recruited by BYU and they play a position that one of the Bower girls plays ..... they ought to bail out immediately. It doesn't matter if the non-Bower is a better player or not. Get away fast! Fact! |

True. I guess I’ve only heard of girls coming back to their original school. Since she doesnt have a school and will take 18 months off I figured it would be hard to find a high level school who would take that chance. Just figure that out after her mission is done. There’s no rush, other than whatever certainty it might provide. There’s nothing that precludes her from going back to BYU. Between her father and brother she has some pretty deep ties there. It just struck me as strange to assume her volleyball career was over because of the mission trip. sixpress - yea, I would say there is something that will keep her from going back to BYU volleyball and it is called playing time and fairness with that BYU coach who loves the Bower family more than winning. Damuni couldn't get a fair shake with Olmstead the same way Zayna Meyer couldn't .... even though she was better than the older Bower sister. If you are a setter or OH and you think you will be given a starting job .... even if you are better than a Bower girl .... think again. Won't happen. |

There are also mutual follows between Kiari and Arizona players Alayna Johnson, Jordan Wilson, and Giorgia Mandotti. The most interesting one is the last one because she’s a sophomore from Italy. Don't know any other reason they would follow each other. I know Rita was looking at middle blockers, but I don't have names. Would be quite a get if it happened. kids want to play. Some coaches don’t know how to incorporate a lot of talent . If there is any truth to this Arizona-Robey rumor I will have to check with the "Smarts Dept" in Robey's head. No good players should want to jump into Rita's dumpster fire of a program. That is crazy talk. What Arizona needs more than 4 good transfer players is a change at the top the sooner the better. Good transfers into Arizona will still produce a losing program and not a sniff at the post season. Something doesn't make sense for Robey here. Me thinks there is a skunk in the wood pile around there! |

Rubio's winning isn't Rita's winning. Don't confuse the two. She was a very good player but besides her "credentials" and club duties Rita hasn't won by herself. Being on a winning staff didn't put her on any other staff in the country for a reason. She isn't as good of a coach as she was a player and her ability to be an assistant is much better than her ability to be a head coach at the D-1 level. Last year was a disaster! Why would a senior (especially any senior all-ACC) want to move to that Arizona program? There isn't anything that makes sense about a really good player moving to Arizona for Rita right now. Even if Rita makes it big ... which won't happen ...... it won't be until way after the senior is gone. I would think Robey would want to raise her profile and play on a team that gets into the field of 64 so she has a little leverage with a pro league? This isn't just a Robey comment, but any good player transferring into UofA vb right now needs to clear medical waivers including a head exam! |

marnvbc2 seems to have some untreated mental health issues based on the last few posts, I wouldn’t put much stock into what they say. Norah, the only mental health issues that need checking are in the Arizona AD's office, for hiring a former player who served under a good head coach but has zero positive qualifications, on her own, as a head D-1 coach. UofA conveniently (you know they are sensitive about this since they cover Rita's pre NCST years and post NCST years) leaves out of Rita's bio listed on their website the gaping hole in her true resume'. Go look it up! Maybe they/she forgot Rita coached at NCST? She not only hasn't been a successful head coach in her career, she managed to keep her job at NCST while accumulating 22 total wins (the vast majority of those wins were vs non-conference crappy teams) while losing 111 matches and ruining the program. She is good at one thing as a D-1 head coach, that is keeping herself from getting fired when she should be! Rita winning 8 out of 31 matches is an embarrassment last year. Then her best player leaves! People contacted me after my Arizona post. I don't have any first hand knowledge of the allegations I have been told. Suffice it to say that Rita's past playing career may have some interesting crossroads into the lives of decision makers of some of the transfer portal players who might be considering UofA. I stand by my statement that no good transfer portal player would come to this Arizona program without something that unduly influences them to do so. There is nothing for a good/great player in Arizona's program right now except a lot of losses. |
