Answer: have this round on the home court of all eight higher seeds. And add an extra week of play? And an extra set of travel arrangements? Playing in one gym Wed/Thu and traveling to play at a different place Sat/Sun is what these teams do all year long. It would add a little cost, but you'd also sell 20,000 more tickets. |

I preferred the method we had for a LONG time. sub-regional host sites are based on the seeds, regionals and final four are pre-determined. You bid and they rotate. I fail to see how #1 seeds hosting has done anything to actually grow the sport beyond the handful of teams that stand to benefit from always being able to host. You say that like there wasn't a regional in Nebraska almost every year anyway. At least now Nebraska has to be Top 4 to make it happen. Just so we are clear, my comments aren't to be fixated on Nebraska, I make them generally. I fully expect Nebraska to be in the final four this year REGARDLESS of where the regional match was played this year, because they are just that good. I just don't understand why we have to continually give the #1 seeds such big advantages when it's clear that attendance for the non-host matches isn't any better than when there was pre-determined regionals. |
