See y’all in Austin, and hopefully a return trip in 2025! I hope so too but I’m not counting on it. P4 schools usually don’t do home and home with G5 programs. We’ve play quite a few Texas schools the last couple of years and those schools never returned the favor. I know Jerritt is different with his ties to Hawaii and his constant recruiting of Hawaii kids but I just don’t see them coming. We were only able to secure Texas State and SMU. 🥺 I can see a potential for them to come for a spring match or two. The long trip to Oahu during in season is probably not something they want to do.

I was hoping Baylor would come in the near future with their staff having UH ties. Josh Walker played annd coached with the UH men’s team and Coach McGuyre’s wife Jennifer being a former UH volleyball player.

Most P5 schools do home and home with Hawaii (or just come to Hawaii) if it's not a revenue sport because they won't be making money anyway. Hawaii has lost a bit of prestige in it's program though, and it's shown in that it's as sexy of an OOC opponent as it used to be. Next year would be the year for Texas to come to Hawaii (in spring or fall) so that Kahahawai can play in front of her family. (Elliot did for Jhenna Gabriel last time)
Similarly we did road trips to Texas so was makeable for Lang, Igiede's family etc to make the trip to watch them play.
We still are playing a lot Texas teams so I wonder if we will continue to recruit there in the future.

See y’all in Austin, and hopefully a return trip in 2025! So exciting! I think the last time the Wahine played in Gregory was back in 2005 during the NCAA second round.

We did get Victoria Leyva. I’m sure we are going after 2026 MB Onita Davis….Suli’s younger sister. Too bad Mia Johnson didn’t work out but I think Robyn and staff will continue to recruit Texas. There were certain schools that like to come out on a yearly or every other year basis but we have not had Stanford here in a long time. Same with UW, WSU, or other PAC 12 schools. It’s usually UCLA and USC with Oregon every 5 years or so. I don’t remember Cal coming here even when Jennifer Dorr (Jenn Carey) was coaching there. Despite being a non revenue sport, we didn’t seemed to get much name schools from the west coast to come here as much as we liked. We will have to settle for the SMUs, Texas States and the USDs in the future as now the former PAC12 schools are required to travel to places like New Jersey and Pennsylvania. I doubt even UCLA with former UH player Alfie Reft will want to come.

I had a feeling they would be playing Texas, I just wish we played them when we still had Igeide lol. I do hope we can keep up with them but its gonna be very tough with Skinner. Exciting though, and excited for the girls to get to play a top team like Texas.

How exciting. Can't wait to see the Wāhine play in the Gregory. Get there early, cause it will be an extremely quick match, unless the Texas Head Coach decides to play his 3rd string players.

The Wahine Team will be quite fortunate to enter the BWC season with 2 wins. Right now with all the teams that have been mentioned, so far, for the pre-conference season, I do not see the Wahine Team beating any of them. So hopefully, the teams that have not been mentioned are a lot weaker, so the Wahine Team can at least win a couple of matches before the BWC season.

It seems Robyn and staff are taking the Wahine Team down a Rabbit Hole, they may not be able to get out of.

The cockroach is back at it again smh
Very excited to see Texas on the schedule. I doubt we have The Beach’s same level of success but it’s good to play the previous season’s top team if you have any aspirations to reviving a program.

How can you revive a program when you keep losing to the Top Teams and also, not bring in Top Athletes by playing the Top Teams.
