I'm more worried about 2024-2025 for now. I though we were expecting 3 new players? (That we hadn't heard of yet) Yea as excited as I am for the future, we do have some major needs this upcoming season but if we want to go the way of throwing this incoming young group into the fire and hoping for the best, it might just be for the best long term.

(That we hadn't heard of yet) I am wondering if Robyn will choose not to use those remaining scholarships on 2024-2025 and invest in the 2025-2026 roster. It’s kind of late in the game and probably not a lot of good players available. There is also talk of Chalei coming in January, so one is being held for her. We might just have to ride with Caylen,Tali, Stella with possibly working out those freshman into the rotation. Middle should be solid with Jacyn, Mili and Maddie. Maybe eveyone ignoring Tyla and she will surprise everyone and be in the battle for the OPP position. Filing the roster just to fill the roster is not always good. Maybe UH would rather throw the freshmen into the mix now to prep for the future like babybacksets mentioned.

It’s one of those nerve wracking things because of being a 1-2 bid conference and knowing there’s always a year that SLO, LBSU, or UCSB gives us trouble. For all we know this new combination of players on the floor will be so amped that they will themselves into big wins, despite not having Igiede

I haven't given up on the Wahine announcing at least a couple of additional signings in the next few weeks to provide desperately needed depth. But if there are no more signings I won't sugarcoat that outcome. IMHO not using all except perhaps one of the available allocation of scholarships would be a recruiting fail, plain and simple.

Well if this is what we got for this season. Let's hope it's another 2004 season for this team, the cardiac keiki. 😅

For 2024 I see two tiers of strength in the BW. The top six or seven, and then the rest:
UCSD: returns most of their starting lineup and bench, and they were peaking the end of last year. But they weren't eligible for post-season play. They will be eligible this year and look set to have an exceptionally good 2024. Their freshman now sophomore setter is excellent, and they have the all around best OH in the Big West.
UCI: returns a lot and was putting it together toward the end of last season. They could be in the thick of it this year.
UC Davis typically manages to upset some teams each season. When good, very good. But when bad, very bad. I expect more of the same in 2024. But if they get to a consistent level of good and stay there, they might surprise.
CP: returns their best players. They need to improve their passing and not sure if they've done that. We'll see. If they have, they could be a favorite.
UCSB: lost some punch to transfer and graduation. They may struggle early, but just a hunch that they'll still be a tough Conference matchup.
Beach: expect some up and down early. New coach, Kennedy gone. But they didn't lose much and I expect the new staff will key on plugging their passing issue.
Hawai'i: assuming they don't pull a transfer rabbit out of the hat, they won't have a dominant offensive player and will need to pass and set well or find themselves giving up big streaky runs. They may have a rough non-conference, but it's the kind of team Ah Mow might whip into competitive shape by conference play.
Fullerton, CSUB, CSUN, UCR comprise the perennial bottom of the BW. I don't see anything elevating them in 2024. But a couple of the BW top seven may lose a match to them during conference, and in so doing put themselves out of contention for an at-large and at risk of not making the BW Tournament.
No one in the BW is going to be unbeatable in conference, and the top seven look likely to beat each other up.
Odds are the BW will be one bid in 2024.

Is it possible that Robyn wants to spread the classes out and not make 2024 so large that 2018 will require another large class?
Also possible is there maybe be a player or two that want to come next year but have only one scholarship to offer? You don't want to tie up all your spots with so so players and not leave one or two for potential impact player next year. I dunno, just thinking out loud as possibilities.

Teee Williams 15 year old daughter, Leilani Slacanin is playing at the CEV U18 Championships representing Germany. She's already tall and will grow even more. Her passing is weak which is understandable at her age, but she's got an arm already and she also plays beach. RAM you know what to do!

Interesting that during pregame warmups, opposing teams are serving to each other vs serving to their own backrow players. Don't believe I've ever seen that in NCAA pregame warmups. Leilani is already as tall as mom, Robyn's crew should keep an eye on this player

If we don't work that Wahine connection then I don't know...

Yes, but that's exactly what the transfer portal can be used for--to get an upperclassmen that can be used for the scholarship. 2. It's possible but what if the impact transfer never arrives? We need help this year so I can't imagine turning anyone down (who can make an impact this year). Frankly I think we might need some practice players too.
