The one plus, by the Wahine Team moving to the MWC is that it will open up the BWC Teams for pre-Conference matches. Besides playing the Upper echelon teams in the WCC, Hawaii will be able to schedule the Upper echelon teams in the BWC, for pre-Conference Tournament, here in Hawaii. Or, even play them in some of their tournaments. i feel like most of the mwc teams are less likely to be 'cannibalized' by all the good teams on the west coast, compared to bw teams. a lot of bw teams (because of their limited athletic budgets) end up playing a lot of the same west coast teams from the (now former) PAC-12 and WCC. the mwc teams have better options to play teams in the midwest and beyond, which can then help to prop up their overall win/loss records ... which in turn can help with hawaii's own RPI ... not sure if this will actually come to fruition ... but the RPI's geographic bias could end up being used for us than against us a little more ...

Now your just making shaite up! I never once questioned Robyn's ability to coach. That's a lie. In fact I've praised her coaching on many occassions. I've just questioned her recruiting (13 player roster!), and why so many players have left, and also her PR ability which goes back to her lack of personality that you obviously agree with now when you say "the Hawaii staff needs personality".... As a GenXer I can say withour regret that lot of kids today are soft. They can't handle criticism or tough love so if players are leaving because of Robyn's coaching style, that's on them and not Robyn. Coaches use to open hand slap our helmet when we made mistakes as young Football players, now they'd probably get arrested for doing something like that. Man, I miss the 80"s. Anyway Kudos to Kate for sticking it out all these years with Robyn mothering her in Robyn's way. Sometimes it goes the other way too. I had a 'silent generation' old-school basketball head coach that was tough as nails on players. He was grinding on me in practice and quick whistled me on a play. He typically expected the ball in his hands after a whistle. I took advantage and quick spun around and two handed the ball at the greatest pace I could muster at his face from about ten feet. Caught him on the bridge of his nose. His glasses went flying and broke in two. He swallowed his whistle. His eyes watered and blood trickled onto his shirt. The ball bounced far away. He didn't say a word. Took a few moments to recover his glasses, pieced them back together with a roll of training tape. And back to practice. He didn't even get angry. In a way, I think he might have appreciated it. He loved tough, take no %*$# from anyone ever players.

I just wanted to say how thankful I am for the recent posters in the post couple pages. It’s refreshing to see intelligent, practical individuals in the fanbase that have their heads on straight versus some of you ridiculously unserious people that don’t know how to do anything other than squawk, oink, and mooo about whatever nonsense of the day you’ve come up with. I would HATE to know that the players are reading Volleytalk regularly because of how much garbage gets spewed on here, but if they do, I hope they are seeing that there are compassionate human beings in this fanbase that want to see them thrive. But also girls let’s get those hitting percentages up and block more balls lol Go Bows!!! RAM needs to go! Bwuahahahaha!

I don't understand why people are calling for Ah Mow's head- this is just the current landscape for womens volleyball. The men's team was in almost the exact situation last season when Chakas went down and they lost to teams they weren't "supposed" to, yet people aren't calling for Charlie Wade's head. Hawaii doesnt have the luxury of getting those five star recruits who are AA-level as soon as they come in; they never really have. We had a few here and there like Danielson, Kamanao, Ljunquist, but even those players improved with Hawaii's coaching. The majority of Hawaii's AAs were lesser-recruited players who developed into the AA-level players after a few years (think Igiede, Hartong, Duggins, Goods and so many more). This is going to be more of an issue with NIL deals and not being able to compete. Ah Mow is doing what Shoji did: she gets athletes she thinks she can train into AAs. I think she is a great coach that does a good job of developing talent. Unfortunately, a lot of the talent left because of the COVID, portal, NIL, etc. Last year we would have had Hellvig headlining the team. This year we could have had Johnson and DeGoode. Hawaii with those players who could contributed early on, and factoring in the normal improvement under this coaching staff, would be comfortably in the top 25 if not maybe even the top 10. Do we really want to trash the whole program because of some players who left early? Seriously, some of the "fans" on here are just plain dumb with some of the critiques of the team and coaches. Yeah that was a dumb comparison.... not really ... there is some validity in Psychopotamus's point ... there was a time earlier in wade's coaching tenure when he struggled to make or missed entirely the post-season conference tournament. let's not forget that the recent run of success for the men's team is just that -- recent. comparing the men's and women's side isn't one-for-one, because the landscapes are different. but (and this again get's to Psychopotamus's point) ... if we would have held wade to a similar criteria for 'retention' that some are urging now for robyn (i.e. firing him for failing to make the post-season) ... wade would not have been around to usher in those recent ncaa titles ... CNM - I think the difference is in where both programs are headed - one has been trending up and the other trending down, and also you can't compare a team that struggles after losing your star player to injury to a team that's struggling because of players leaving for various reasons and poor recruiting...like I said, dumb comparison...

RAM needs to go! Bwuahahahaha! 2 strikes for you, one more and.... Cmon BiK, that statement calls for a timeout? I was very civil on that one. This team needs a coaching staff WITH personality, as a lot of posters here have said. They should get Milan from men’s team to be the interim coach until he’s stabilized women’s vball and find a younger coach that can carry this team forward. There you can put me on timeout. I rarely post on here anyway 😁.

Say it for the people in the back! My how people forget that Charlie produced teams that couldn't even win more than 11 games in the past. Using some of these clowns criteria....he would have been OUSTED a long long time ago! I'm glad they stuck it out and brought in Milan.
