Congratulations to our Wahine! Especially happy for Ikenaga, she went from no BWC honors her first three years to Libero of the Year! LOY but only 2nd team? This is proof that Liberos get no love it's crazy, UCSB's freshman of the year was the FOURTH outside hitter on the first team but has a 0.210 hitting % and UCSB didn't even make the conference tourney

Big West Awards Announced! Player of the Year: Caylen Alexander Setter of the Year: Kate Lang Libero of the Year: Tayli Ikenaga First Team: Caylen Alexander First Team: Kate Lang Second Team: Tayli Ikenaga Honorable Mention: Jacyn Bamis Honorable Mention: Tali Hakas All-Freshman Team: Miliana Sylvester thanks for posting! wow, it's great (and a little suprising) to see hawaii get a sweep of the poy/position awards! with the parity in the conference this past season, i would have thought the awards would be more spread out... alexander and lang have been represented on prior all-conference teams (with lang being a former setter of the year for the conference), so it makes sense they'd be in contention in light of the individual seasons they're having (especially alexander and her offensive production). ikenaga is that real welcome surprise. it's not like she's coming out of nowhere. she's been a stable part of hawaii's lineup for 4 years now (even with sharing the starting lib duties last year with edmonds). but ikenaga has never been named to any prior all-conference team. not even an 'honorable mention' ... so it's kinda satisfying seeing her make the big leap to lib of the year in her final season!

Mizz Tayli ate and devoured and got her rightful flowers We all know lady Katherine the great was the best to do it in a long time for us and ill miss her so much And Alexander is a once in a lifetime talent. We love our girls, and just like our kids, we get annoyed when theyre cracks lol. Yes, friend! Mizz Tayli really came into the season SNATCHED and ready to snatch wigs. I hope she can cap her career off with another Big West championship and NCAA appearance.

I knew/hoped that Alexander and Lang were going to get the awards they deserved as player and setter of the year.
So happy and surprised that Ikenaga got libero of the year. She definitely deserved it but I wasn’t sure if she was going to get it. Congrats to all three!

She definitely deserved it but I wasn’t sure if she was going to get it. Congrats to all three! Tayli started off at a higher level but reminds me of Rika Okino. Local public school girls who took it to another level their senior years. I hope they inspire other girls to keep up the Wahine defensive tradition.
