Playing with house money is a nice feeling. After all, we’re clearly a horrible team and just fortunate to see the mighty Cardinal play on the same court. Oh, wait. Past results DON’T mean %*$# when it comes to the current match. Play the game and play for each other. Make sure you check out all the championship banners while you're here. ETA: And the Directors' Cups.
(Seriously, I haven't seen one person say anything like what you're saying.) Not from Stanford fans, but on the Sweet 16 match thread and the Texas thread there’s been plenty of it from the Anyone But Texas crowd.

Hoping the Longhorns find a way out of this region. Texas in 5.

FWIW, part of my joke is that Stanford only hangs a couple of banners from the rafters and they're in the corners.

Stanford doesn’t look as crisp as they did in Austin. Texas looks better than they did at the beginning of the season (plus Skinner doesn’t have Covid).
Either team could take it. I don’t actually expect the upset, but Stanford is very capable of flopping

A harm reduction model for Wenaas.
This match could easily be one of those that matters at the statistical margins, and if the “harm” can be lessened having her at that OH2 it’s worth trying - especially since Devin (for whatever reasons) isn’t an option. I’m applying my public health model to volleyball 😂
I think an argument can be made to speed up the sets outside to Wenaas. I’m wondering if she’d be a little more successful pushing that set to her a little faster (if she can, and obviously if there’s reasonably good passing). *If* the set can beat the Stanford block - or even just press their middle blocker to get outside quicker I wonder if that can lift Wenaas’ numbers up just a little - like to .200 would be great!
I think Skinner > Kip. Is Frances better than O’Neil? I don’t think so.
Should be a good match.

Speeding up the sets to Wenaas is an interesting idea especially when the Longhorns are receiving serve. But in my opinion, she needs to work harder in transition if that is going to be successful.

Agree. She seems to be fast enough it seems that she’s just not much of a leaper and she can’t change up shots very successfully. Every team (including Texas Tech) can shut her window. In the 3rd set against Tennessee (at 20-19) she had SIX swings and couldn’t terminate. If we can’t reduce that harm it’s not going to end well. I think any other coach would have at least tried a substitution.

1st set Texas will hang with Stanford. We just have to serve that tough and be that terminal foe the duration.

1st set Texas will hang with Stanford. We just have to serve that tough and be that terminal foe the duration. I think the middles will be key for Texas. If Asjia and Bella can contribute offensively (hi passing line and Swindle) and bring their blocking prowess, the tide can turn. I think they're slightly stronger than the tandem of Stanford's Francis and Vicini and Asjia is the difference maker. Jenna will need to, at the very least, side out and get through her 3 rotations as quick as possible unless she plans on banging out points her team with transition kills. The Stanford pins are stronger as a whole than the Texas pins but if Madi Skinner starts scoring at will like last night it could make it interesting.

I like Texas in this one IF The Ferret has the cojones to pull Wenaas early, and keep her on the bench, when she goes south. If not, I like Stanford. I also like grapes.

Game Plan: Serve and block Wenaas not a very hard plan, sadly

Ferrets are really friendly and only bite when threatened. I don't think that's what you were going for, but fits JE pretty well! 😁😁
