Not so much “shade” as disrespect, but would expect nothing less of Texas 🙄

Franklin earned her award. One off night against Texas doesn’t take away from her stellar season that she almost wasn’t able to play in the first place. Skinner’s had a stellar tournament and earned MOP. Be humble in your victory and courteous to your opponents. Being dismissive of other’s accomplishments is downright ugly.

We’re not discussing the semi-final. We’re discussing if this is a disrespectful post. And it is. Rather than celebrating Madi’s accomplishment specifically, the post goes on to disparage a player from another team. Texas just won a championship, and yet it doesn’t waste a second to make a “we’re better than YOU” post about 1) another team’s athlete and 2) the footing body who awarded POY. It’s possible to celebrate your own team without disparaging others, but it seems like a foreign concept to the University of Texas’s athletic department. No one likes a sore winner.

Not that Skinner needs motivation but maybe not winning the NPOY was a good thing at the end of the day. I like what she said about individual awards in the presser.

Eh, I'll die on the hill Franklin was the correct choice for NPOY. One bad game doesn't define an entire season, and yall can blah blah blah on stats who cares. Skinner is shoe in next year, she's amazing and a stud. Both were deserving. Grats to Texas on an amazing tourney run, Hook 'em!

Why I’m pointing this out is because I find it a distasteful comment from a team/university affiliated account. It’s one thing if it’s a fan’s account or some rando’s comments on a post making these kind of statements (people are allowed to be wrong), but having an official account that’s representing the team make these kind of comments isn’t in good taste. Champion your own players without putting others down; it’s not that hard.

If you’re upset/triggered by this post then you may not be cut out for sports. There’s trash talking going on between schools all the time and this was pretty mild. I mean the 2 poy candidates both had great years but 1 performed significantly better at the tail end. Doesn’t take anything away from Franklin.

My national player of the year won 3 national championships. My national player is coming back for her 5th and is going to get NPOY while leading Texas to their 3rd straight championship I'm genuinely curious why a player who has already been in college for 4 years and could jump right to the pros WOULD return for a 5th year...especially on the heels of her THIRD national championship and the championship MVP award. What is really the motivation to continue playing NCAA Vball?

NIL? being the biggest fish in the pond? its not like she has a shot at going to Paris or anything I also feel like if I were in that position I would leave and go pro, but there are definitely reasons that make sense to stay for some people
