Gotta hand it to Texas for making it this far- past the phenomenally aggressive Tennessee team, and over the apex predator, #2 Stanford. And both accomplished as a visitor. Good work on your 'rebuilding'! Four powerhouses left, now; two illustrious legacy names,... another in the midst of continuing and defining their Current Era,... and The New Kids on the Block smashing at the gates. #s 1, 3, 4, and 7. Loaded with All-Americans, NPOY/NFOY candidates, and insanely-talented athletes. What another great experience we all have in store! On! Wisconsin And a return to the scene of the classic Texas-Penn State reverse sweep, one of the best played, best officiated matches I have witnessed. So well played JE only questioned one call in 5 sets and non-ballistic at that.

It probably won't get to a 4th set. Yep. Texas in 3. Last week the poll was almost 3-1 Stanford over Texas, so... Texas is way to self destructive to win in a sweep, 4 or 5 certainly possible.

In 2013, Wisconsin faced defending national champions Texas in the Final Four. It’s been 10 years. Let’s do it again. You seem to be forgetting the spring of 2021 when Texas defeated Wisconsin in the semis. Correct - but Texas was not the defending national champion in 2021.

There's no mention in this thread about who Pitt fans might be cheering for in semifinal #2. Pick your poison, Panthers. (For match #1, I prefer the Badgers take on a known entity that they've already beaten in the course of the season. I also prefer a B1G national champion. Go Huskers!) They better just think about first match and hope they get to play either team.

A question primarily for Texas fans.
I haven't seen Texas play at all this year [Badger fan]. I'm very familiar with Pitt, Oregon and Nebraska. Are any of these teams similar to Texas in terms of the way they play? If not, what's your thumbnail sketch of what The Badgers are up against? Thanks.

Add: Tennessee is the match. For some reason I couldn't find it on ESPN+. Thanks again.

Wisconsin played Texas in the semis in spring 2021. Though mostly different players (O'Neal & Phillips are the only starters still on the team), the style of play is still much the same. Likely the biggest difference is that we have a 6-2 (maybe 6-3) setter now instead of a 5-8 setter.

We have Bella Bergmark instead of Brionne Butler. I think the defense and serving is better on this team. Outside of Skinner and O’Neal, the team isn’t as terminal. Both teams are okay at serve receive. Not bad but not great. If you pitted the 2021 team against the 2023 team I’d take the 2021 team in a heartbeat. The difference would be does 2023 get stuck in Wenaas’s rotations versus does 2021 get stuck in Gabriel’s front row rotations.

For whatever reason, when I've gone to ESPN+ looking for replays, I have had to sign out and sign back in, and then they appear.

I should know by now that nothing will lessen the pre-match heebie jeebies. It's a good thing the players are tougher than that and hard-wired to compete. Looking forward to a great match, but I'm pretty sure I'll have to take a few breaks from TV to follow the stats if the going gets rough.

The difference would be does 2023 get stuck in Wenaas’s rotations versus does 2021 get stuck in Gabriel’s front row rotations. the nice thing about 2021 team was that they could still side out relatively easily with Gabriel in the front row because fields / eggleston were always a front row option. opposing team could side out well too going over Gabriel but they were usually able to quickly trade off side-outs and get Gabriel out of the front row

It seems like most of the posts I see are corn huskers hoping the Badgers don't get to the final. Can't see many Huskers fan rooting for The University of Texas Longhorns. (It would be like us rooting for the aggies) Eh, it would be like Texas fans rooting for Nebraska against Pittsburgh; don't see many doing that in Thursday's first semi-final.
