Ok, I know this match doesn't start until tomorrow, but it doesn't appear that the UH Admin has much faith in Na Wahine. On the UH Results page, it looks like they're predicting a WAC LOSS!! (8-6, 2-1 Conference) www.uhathletics.hawaii.edu/schedule.html?p=12

I KNOW New Mexico State will win: 3-1 (30-27, 24-30, 30-21, 30-28)
I guarantee it; otherwise, BIK will not post for a whole week.

A legitimate question here would be: does anyone really know how good NMSU is? I mean their only losses have come to Colo. St. (0-3), and to Nevada (2-3); they just beat FSU 3-1(30-27, 27-30, 30-15, 30-20....or something like that). But shoot, does that say much? I'm confused.... anyway does anyone here know how good they are?

This is a team that held its own against San Digeo last year and returns key components to last years success. I have some doubts, as this team hasn't played a regular season ranked team since UCSB in 2003. That year, they also got handled pretty easily in Hawaii against BYU, who was handled pretty easily against Hawaii in the second round. I think the key for them is not to be intimidated by Hawaii. If they start making some mental errors, it will likely compound on each other. Even though Hawaii doesn't have the intimidation it had a few years ago, New Mexico State hasn't had to deal with stronger hitters and a great floor defense. If that starts to get to them, they could fall apart. We have already seen that when Boise State played Hawaii. On the other hand, if New Mexico State plays like they have nothing to lose, they could get fired up and give Hawaii a hard time. They have the talent to push the Wahine.

thanks roy.
On a side note, I was just thinking that it's quite amazing how the recent changing of 3 teams in the WAC made such a difference in terms of quality of teams. Too bad we had to lose Rice too, not just in volleyball.... but of course in this case volleyball.
Speaking of which wouldn't it be awesome if we could right now trade Louisiana Tech in for Rice again. haha... just a thought.

For those that are interested in seeing it live, NMSU has a package where you can view the match live via computer. It's a small fee and usually the video is pretty good. I don't think there is a play by play or anything, you just get to see the game.

Go to nmstatesports.com and look for the link on the right that says Aggie Access. It's pretty easy after that. Aloha!

This is a situation where NMSU has nothing to lose (other than the match itself) and everything to gain. Hawai'i otoh, has been riding a 6 year win streak against WAC competition. The Aggies have yet to face a team as talented as the Wahine. Hawai'i should win this match rather handily.

Well, I gotta go watch some football.
I'll be very disappointed if NMSU doesn't beat the Wahine tonight. A sweep will do.
