Acevedo to Minnesota; check their thread. Any other suitable OHs in the transfer portal for depth? Having only three outsides on a roster is a recipe for disaster IMO

Right now, we don't know if Sheff made an offer to Acevedo. Wo do know what he said about "absolutely" wanting to bring in 1 or 2 players.
I'm not sure what to make of it if The Badgers go into the fall with the players they have at OH and nothing more. Given the hundreds of players available in the portals leading up to fall 2024, can it really be the case that Sheff couldn't find, or couldn't get, one other player who can help The Badgers this year?

With Orzol as an OH, I don't see how CC can start (not as if that wasn't clear before). We can win with one not very terminal front-line player, but I don't know about two, especially in a 5-1. We will also need Damrow (or someone else) to step up their passing from the L position, because bad passing when Orzol is front row could be a recipe for disaster.

This is bananas to me. Is there an international OH coming? Do we not want to spook 2025 or 2026 recruits? Congrats to Minny, but even if unproven, Minny now has 6 players listed who can play OH so unless Orzol has said she will ONLY play OH, what gives? What happens if passing breaks down and none of the littles can hold up so we NEED Orzol at libero. What if one of our 3 OHs gets injured?

Time to wrap Sarah and Orzol in bubble wrap after every game. No clubs, no partying, no nothing. Also, right now we only have 2 OHs for 2025 so that's even more dire lol. And 2025 OHs recruiting is pretty much done besides some surprising decommits. There has to be an international OH coming right??

I understand there are several reasons an SA will choose a program, but if the interest was mutual for both Akasha Anderson and Avecdeo, how would you NOT want to compete for a starting position on a projected Top 5 team?! WHAT. IS. GOING. ON?!

Having only three outsides on a roster is a recipe for disaster IMO Given the rosters for this year and the 2025/potential 2026 cycle, Acevedo skipping Wisconsin seems very concerning. She'd have been likely to see some playing time this year and almost certainly next year given the roster turnover on the pins.

Just guessing here but in addition to the possibility that she simply just didn't vibe, maybe she doesn't love that Wisconsin loses like everybody after this year (Orzol, Franklin, Smrek, Robinsin, Crawford, Anderson).

Lack of depth this year is the issue for Wisconsin, but bigger picture, ceiling is going to rear its ugly head but for success in the transfer portal between 2024-2026. There will only be a few class of 2020 covid holdovers and unfortunately for Wisconsin, Nebraska will be going hard for the best available transfer opposite and it wouldn't surprise me to see Texas pick up an OH. I also think Louisville is out both of their OH's after this year....and Penn State.

I’m hoping that Shadd-Ceres and the DSs can get some good playing time in so that we’re not going in with such an inexperienced roster for 2025. This looks to be the last big year for the Badgers before what looks to be a year or two of rebuild.

You can’t start out with Louisville, Texas, and Stanford+ and THEN go into the expanded B1G with 3 OHs. Sarah’s arm will fall off and Orzol was gassed with a stress fracture by the end of the 2021 season.

On the other hand, there hasn't been a ton of talent in the portal that is proven at this level. If Acevedo didn't think it was a good fit, then it probably wasn't, and it's better if both parties go their own way.

Minny now has 6 players listed who can play OH This is what makes no sense to me. She would have a good chance of playing next year in Madison - even with Quest coming in. Maybe Cook recruited her in the past before she went to the ducks. Maybe something as simple as a more direct flight home from Minneapolis? Whatever, I wasn't that invested.
