I always hate these analyses into relationships unless it's super obvious like "Izzy and MJ sucked" or some thing like that. Else, how do you know CC didn't text MJ and Izzy already beforehand to say something like "hey didn't mean anything by the comment. Just wanted to gas up our freshman setter"?? In fact, if they're close friends or something, the other two probably wouldn't even mind without the texts because they probably understand?? These girls have relationships you're not privy to, and maybe some comments might come off as shades or wtvr to you, but maybe it's perfectly fine to them. I'm not going to sit here and be the arbiter of that. A fifth year senior should have the emotional maturity to convey a sense of excitement of their current situation WITHOUT providing a stark comparison to 'supposed negativity' of attributes that former players or system apparently didn't provide. But not being specific in regards to system or individuals leaves words open for interpretation. Easy fix and I bet she won't make that mistake next time. Reduced to its simplest terms: "There's a right way to go about this young lady."
You do you and we'll let CC speak for herself.

Visualizing what we knew, but TSC’s got the hops:

You know it's offseason when we're reading into the CC comments that much. Anyone with an eye for volleyball knows exactly what she's saying, and Izzy and MJ surely have an eye for volleyball. Charlie will set you no matter where you're at, this is completely different from the safe (and arguably predictable) way we ran the offense last year. Not many surprises to the middle in last years offense, very pin heavy, especially when passing wasn't great. Good pass, with Booth up, or Dev running a 1, we are going to the middle. There's a lot more added complexity in terms of an opposing teams blocking strategy when going against Charlie, and a lot of that comes from the involvement of CC's position.

On a more general level, I think these kinds of worries really undersell the maturity of these grown women playing elite level sports. They know that each brings something different because they know the sport. It's hard for me to believe that they would think pointing out those differences is a bad thing, or even a judgmental thing. And of course a middle who was objectively underutilized offensively for two years is going to be jazzed by the prospect of a brand new setter who is forcing sets to the middle from the 3 meter line right from the get go. Suddenly there is the prospect of being more involved in the offence than she was! She should be excited about that. Let her be! Call me crazy but I think Izzy and MJ would be excited for her, too, not upset.
And that's the last I'm going to say about it.

Check out Charlie setting CC that slide against the flow! Love to see that. Going to be a lot of fun to watch.

Don’t worry everyone, only 6 days, 7 hours, 27 minutes and counting until an actual gameday

Maybe it was my imagination, but I think no-one has come out and said it yet. It looks like the offense is faster from the setter to the hitters.

The staff and players have been talking about Charlie’s range and tempo being a lot faster than some of the hitters are used to. ETA: That will certainly help ‘undersized’ players like Julia and TSC, much like Carlini’s tempo only helped Morales and Bates

After watching some of Charlie's games at Mira Costa last year, I predicted that Carter Booth would have a monster season this year if Charlie ran a 5-1. Fuerbringer does not care where the ball is passed to, transition or not, she will set the middle: anytime and anywhere. In a 1-on-1 situation, MB vs. MB I will take a 6'7 All-American against any other MB in college volleyball every day of the week.

So, if in fact the 5-1 is the plan. Are people leaning
A. Booth/CC middle Smrek opposite Robinson depth B. Booth/Robinson middle Smrek opposite CC depth
I just don't see a world where Smrek/Booth don't play so I didn't include those as options.
Seems probably like a question of do you prefer Robinson's offense or CC's block close
obviously still early to know, but if you had to guess/have a preference

I think it’s what she prefers. I don’t think she is a worse blocker and with how well/often Charlie is giving it to the middle and with orzol hitting/not always having a RS like last year I don’t think we can afford to have a middle who isn’t super terminal

CC is a utility knife and can help in lots of situations, whereas Smrek and DRob turn into juggernauts offensively from time to time and will just win you matches. If it were me, I would want to max out my opportunities for one of them to go nuclear.
