Where did Sheff call out players for commitment? WSJ Punzel article a couple days ago:
"Right now nobody is close to G's defense, nobody is close to her serving, nobody is close to her out of system setting," Sheffield said. "And I don't see any of them putting the work in to close that gap quite honestly. It's hard for me to picture anybody taking that part of the game away from her. They're getting outworked.
"From a serve receive standpoint, we've got a bunch that are pretty darn close to each other. It changes from day to day and week to week who I see doing that, and I don't see anybody putting in the work where I know for sure how that's going to end up."

We won a natty with her once... With Barnes and Civita. If two/three of our little are consistently solid like they were by the end of the season, then that can happen again.

Anna causes chaos on the court. She scores when it doesn't matter -- she will never score in essential points on the right - it's just not in her.
Anna's position is in the middle, where she excels. The Sheffield experiment, which places her on the right, should be discontinued. When she's on the right, her teammates' concerns about her attack and blocking are evident, disrupting the team's performance.
6'10 and touching 11'2, keep shooting the ball at her in the middle. She will not be stopped... when will the coaching staff grasp this? Any ball not perfectly set in her line of attack becomes a loss attack. Setting a ball over on Set 1 point, against Texas, sealed the deal for me.
Keep developing TSC—mark my word—she'll be an Oganna Nmamani, Presley-type physical attacker.
TSC will rise in late Oct.
Steady Eddy Julia at Liero needs to be on the court full-time
CC and Carter, -- Carter can't handle it, put in Smrek
My MVP, Robinson, will lead us.

Yes, of course. I think this was in response to suggesting we’d be a complete team with a solid second OH so Julia could stay at libero. Speaking for myself, I don’t say that because I don’t think Julia is a solid second OH. I say that because I think she’s more impactful at libero. That’s why I only mentioned the littles that reduced the need for Julia in that position.

And then there was more, where he mentioned how Tiffany Clark and Lauren Barnes were in the gym on their own working on things even if they were the only ones in the gym...

Great, looking forward to it. For now, i.e., as of tonight's WSJ Punzel article, here's what Sheff has to say:
Sheffield also made a move during the match as Julia Orzol, who had been playing just the back row as she eased her way back from an ankle injury, took over for six rotations as freshman Trinity Shadd-Ceres struggled in serve receive.
“Trinity has had her moments,” Sheffield said. “She’s fighting like crazy to keep her head above water right now. I think the biggest crowd she had ever played in front of was seven. These are some pretty big stages against some pretty big teams.”

I really feel for TSC. She has had a real baptism by fire this season when she probably didn’t anticipate seeing the court much at all this year. It’s also a tough position to know you are struggling and know your coach has no other options- you’re just stuck out there. You can tell her teammates don’t have confidence in her (Charlie avoiding setting her, people crashing into each other to take balls from her…) and she doesn’t have confidence in herself. To be thrown into the starting lineup as a freshman against Texas, Louisville, Stanford… what a way to start your college career. I think she will develop into a fantastic player with time. I just hope she sticks with it and can work through this mentally.

TSC just is not close. Let’s not pretend. I fully expect she will be great eventually but this is a huge step up and she is being thrown in the deep end because of circumstances. It will take months for her to get up to speed with this level of play. The badgers can’t afford that.
There is literally no other option but Julia. Dev isn’t going to play OH, nor is smrek. Nor CC. It has to be Orzol. I don’t think the passing looks that hopeless. We should be able to put a good BR together with these parts without her being L.

The crowd at Fiserv was terrible today. Only standing up when we have set point? Come on, when we come back to tie a set 21-21, you need to stay standing and loud the rest of the set. If we played Stanford and Louisville in the field house, I think we’d be 2-1 even with our struggles. The crowd definitely felt better than yesterday, but comparing it to the Texas-Minnesota match, it was definitely a let down. I know I was screaming my head off, but definitely felt like a deflated audience for the Badgers.

As for smrek, she hits well in the middle, but she is a mess blocking the middle. I’d prefer her out on the right pin precisely because she doesn’t move that dynamically.
That said, I thought Devin looked great today on the RS - I just prefer her blocking in the middle and running slides. Booth looks slow on the block. She’s not doing us many favors defensively, though she gets a block or two. If I were to replace anyone it would be Booth rn, until they can figure out how to use her length which they should def do.
I just watched a match where it seemed there was a positive block touch on 2 of 3 swings. It actually surprises me when the badgers get such positive touches. Y

Who played the best this weekend? (removing Franklin from this convo, since that’s already a given.)
I’m going to say Devyn- she was a breath of fresh air. Totally put in work during the off season. Conditioned, and springy. Absolutely love when she runs a slide. And one critique, she served the ball out multiple times this weekend. If she can fix her serve, she’ll really be a force from the back line. Would give her the opportunity to hit BR for a rotation, before a DS comes in for her too.
