Wisconsin controlled the Northwestern game start to finish. I think that game’s lineup will be what we see every game from now on. OH: Franklin and Orzol MB: Booth and Robinson RS: Smrek S: Freurbringer L: Schumacher DS: Guctekin As it should be. The lineup has the most upside and if Booth, Charlie, Lola all show steady improvement we will be very, very formidable down the stretch. I didn't get to see the Northwestern game, did CC get substanitive floor time? I think Booth needs to get all the minutes to facilate growth/confidence. I was there. CC hardly played. I think just one point as serving substitute. Charlie connected well with Smrek, who dominated. Still sone work needed between Charlie and Booth.

I do remember one point where Booth was shouting “me me me me” and Charlie set her as requested, and Booth got the kill.

Nice, tightening up the rotation 2 liberos to 1 and middles 3 to 2 is what usually happens in the offseaaon. At least Sheff is doing it now and I hope it sticks. Crossing my fingers that Booth takes the next step.

Hey coach, that was the best work you've done all season. Lola, Oz, and Franklin cover for GG; nobody has to sprint; Carly fills in for Robinson, helping to fortify defense, cut down on SEs, and provide a true backup setting on the floor.
That was THE lineup. Don't mess around anymore.

I wanna take a look. Carly served two points late in the 2nd set - around 20 points or so - and then one point in the 3rd, around ten points or so.

That reminds me of the point on serve receive where Franklin yelled “mine” from behind Freurbringer, but Freurbringer took it anyway, and we lost that point. Right after, Franklin quite clearly said you need to get out of the way, motioning with her arms to step aside. I think Freurbringer is simply not accustomed to having so much talent around her, and needs a little more time to adjust.

You most likely meant the third set, when GG was standing there and holding out her arms to keep people away. I think it was a smart move for neither setter to take the possession imo.

Mira Costa is one of the best high school programs in the nation & her team comprised of several power 5 D1 commits. Can’t get much better than that in high school ball. And same goes for her club. She was definitely a top, heavily relied on player in her prep days but the talent around her wasn’t lacking. Mainly now it’s that she is the most inexperienced on the court, surrounded by very experienced upperclassman.. minus Lola of course.

She’s a beach player. She plays a complete game. There is no one else to take the dig in beach. She is not used necessarily to being so specialized. Also probably used to a bunch of players around her that can set “well enough” for HS and club. But the defenses are better are this level and the offenses are faster and more complex to beat them. She has to trust her teammates to do their jobs, for sure, but she has to trust that she is the only one on the court that can run this offense.
It’s such an interesting contrast to Carlini.

I really hope GG doesn’t read VT. If she is, I’m sure the pressure from all the comments here and on some social media isn’t helping with the pressure she might be feeling. I’m sure none of the players are actively reading anything on this forum. They’re much busier than us and have plenty of other activities to do. I’m sure they are told not to look. TL/DR - you are 100% correct. None of the players read VT.These student-athletes are way too busy being productive and forward with their lives to get caught up in any online vitriol. I am acquainted with several of the players as well as several of the coaching staff. None of them read VT or social media posts. (However, parents' of players do read often, and that's where complaints are coming from. There's an up-tick this season.) For those of you concerned, GG doesn't read VT and isn't impacted by the social media pressure. GG is a relentless optimist with an unbreakable spirit and enthusiasm. Impossible to bring her down, because her support system (both teammates and non-VB peers) is very strong. This program consistently recruits high-character, resilient and self-motivated players. It is very evident in the European-born players. Many have no idea what it's like being born in a foreign country, taking a plunge to move across an ocean with no family in the U.S., having to adapt to a drastically different culture, adjusting to a new primary language, uncertain of which country their post-college future will take them, all while doing so as a teenager. That's real pressure. GG, Julia, Maile and Tosia all fit in varying degrees with this description. They're all too self-motivated pursuing their goals to worry what is written of them. Quite the inspirational group, once you get to know them as people and not just as players.

However quit perpetrating with the false characterizations. There is a difference between critical thinking and analysis then mere vitriol as you amongst others drone on about. A suggestion is for parents and those close to the program to not be so dang sensitive.

I did listen to an interview of Booth around the time of her transfer where she mentioned VolleyTalk by name, and said she does read it (but tries not to).
