We should have beaten Minnesota, because we have higher talent levels overall, especially since Orzol is playing better than expected at OH. Like many others, I was surprised GG stayed libero for all five sets. I thought she would be switched to DS for some sets. But I don’t think that was the main problem. Now that our players are healing, I think overall our biggest problem is Fuerbringer still isn’t consistently setting our taller players, namely Smrek and Booth, high enough. Agree that Fuehrbringer has a ways to go and much of what you stated but I also feel that our block is overall a big letdown considering the 'talent' we have there. Too many mental errors. The libero position is a weakness at the moment and left unchecked will deep six us against top echelon teams and in the postseason. The incumbent has had two regular and post-seasons, this last offseason and 10 regular season games this year to develop. If the eureka moment hasn't hit by now its time has likely passed. Unless a step down to one of the underclassmen is a seismic one, I would think you'd hitch the wagon to Lola at this point. The incumbent libero has great karma points for the team and is an integral member of the culture however results at some point should dictate a different route.

I really hope GG doesn’t read VT. If she is, I’m sure the pressure from all the comments here and on some social media isn’t helping with the pressure she might be feeling. I’m sure none of the players are actively reading anything on this forum. They’re much busier than us and have plenty of other activities to do. I’m sure they are told not to look. Yes, this isn't tiktok or instagram. I'm sure that the girls aren't looking at this site unless shared by family/friends.

I do empathize with the sentiment you shared. I guess it is kind of hard to bring up what a Coach Sheffield thing is really as much as it is a GG thing as far as the decision making without naming the individual players in question. It is just a sign that people really have invested in the team and care about its performance not that they intend it in a cruel, 'berating' way as others would like to characterize things. I mean even totally neutral observers were left incredulous to Coach's thinking on this matter.

Sheffield specifically called out VT commenters after the Florida match last year based on what he was hearing from his team.

Having Schumacher at libero seems reasonable, it will be interesting to see who starts there tonight. It would be great to see Damrow playing more too. I think the difference in block comes from playing 5-1 instead of 6-2, and the fact that Fuerbringee is a tad short relative in speaking. She’ll get better at that.

These players today have probably spent plenty of time on Twitter/Facebook/TikTok so this should be nothing new to them or to Sheffield. If you want to see vitriol, then go on any men's football or basketball forum for any team. You will see some truly ugly stuff there. The stuff you see on volleytalk is very tame by comparison.

I was confident that GG wasn't going to be switched out of the libero jersey, mainly because I think that most coaches wouldn't make that switch in the first place if they're going to pull the trigger on it that quickly. And no one on this site is totally neutral.

Haven't noticed anything really out of hand up to this point this season despite some posters overreacting saying that players were being 'berated' amongst other exaggerated claims.

Seems odd that family and friends of the players feel inclined to share what they see online. Not great for the players mental health whether it’s good or bad posting

After the %*$#show at USC, I've never been happier that there is a 30-minute volleyball pre-game show starting in 10 minutes!

Wisconsin controlled the Northwestern game start to finish. I think that game’s lineup will be what we see every game from now on. OH: Franklin and Orzol MB: Booth and Robinson RS: Smrek S: Freurbringer L: Schumacher DS: Guctekin

OH: Franklin and Orzol MB: Booth and Robinson RS: Smrek S: Freurbringer L: Schumacher DS: Guctekin As it should be. The lineup has the most upside and if Booth, Charlie, Lola all show steady improvement we will be very, very formidable down the stretch. I didn't get to see the Northwestern game, did CC get substantive floor time? I think Booth needs to get all the minutes to facilitate growth/confidence.
