Playing a mb who can't hit (both actually) makes offense so predictable such that when you pass well, they can still camp. No one was setting CC. Problem is completely ineffective RS and MB hitters. You can't win when you rely on Franklin on whom they were already keying. Orzol can side out but she's not great OOS. We need Anna. All that said, I disagree we can win against a team executing at a high level when we can't close the block three rotations AND some of our servers just aren't cutting it. It's GG and CF, with Orzol close behind. No one else does jack. CC's has been ok...not great. actually opponent SO% for OZ, Lola, and Frank are within 1/1000. Orzol is actually "worse" at 0.545, while Frank/Lola are at 0.544 (CC is 0.596, thanks robtearle for the stats)

GG and Charlie's serves get teams OOS much more often. Their abailot to side out, while a function of serve, is attributed to a variety of factors.

My thoughts from the match:
It’s time to end the lineup experiment and stick with the best combination. Wisconsin has four solid MBs & OPPs, but I think the offense would flow better with consistency. Of course, adjustments are necessary if someone is really struggling. Why wasn’t the coaching staff prepared to swap Booth out? Why was her leash so long? Do they fear that if they bench her she will transfer? She had a stellar week but it was obvious early on she wasn’t going to have an A+ performance. She was slow to close the block more often than not, allowing Nebraska to pound away and bully the back-row.
The passing was terrible last night. Charlie was running all over the court. Anyone who has actually played knows it’s insanely hard to set the middle with bad passes. Middle is hardest position to swing from as it is usually just a straight route, unless you have the opportunity to a run slide.
The triple block on Franklin was interesting LOL! In the end, Wisco played poorly, and Nebraska clearly spent the week analyzing us and came up with a game plan that exploited our weaknesses.

The biggest thing i saw was Nebraskas serve was very good. Cooks teams normally serve lower risk high percent but they were serving bullets last night. Maybe they did learn something from Texas last year. Kelly took that lesson to heart with how well Texas served against us. It’s not like Cook completely missed that memo too. I hope Kelly shifts to realize that we need to be able to pass a hell of a lot better from now until December, as the bad passing and serve receiving is going to be a bigger problem than us trying to serve tough.

What stood out to me was the lack of communication in the back court. To my eyes, it looks like Lola was running into everyone, trying to do it all herself, even when that wasn't the best play I'm sure some of that comes with time, but it was concerning to me.

For those of you that attended the match last night did the student section heckle Harper Murray? I’m seeing g in the match thread that they chanted, “D-U-I” Did this only happen once? It happened, only once. Harper served and scored, so they never did it again.

Smrek was also borderline tragic in this match. Blocked easily and erred way too much for someone with her size.

Hey, could be worse Badger fans. At least the team isn’t coached by Luke Fickell.

Hey, could be worse Badger fans. At least the team isn’t coached by Luke Fickell. There are a lot of similarities between volleyball and football from a tactical perspective. Both stop after every play, and therefore in-game adjustments are a bigger part of winning a match, relative to a continuous action sport like soccer or basketball.

Hey, could be worse Badger fans. At least the team isn’t coached by Luke Fickell. Fickell was going to be Chris Mcintosh's Alvarez, and get them both statues outside the stadium. Lame attempt to make this "about volleyball": two years ago after the disastrous Illinois game that was Paul Chryst's last game, the volleyball team played Sunday afternoon at the Field House. So I lock my bike to the rack over near the Shell, and walk along the parking near the stadium. And I notice McIntosh's big black Escalade is in his parking spot. "Huh, Chris is working on a Sunday". And I don't give it another thought, until I get home to read that Chyrst has been fired.
