My thoughts from the match: It’s time to end the lineup experiment and stick with the best combination. Wisconsin has four solid MBs & OPPs, but I think the offense would flow better with consistency. Of course, adjustments are necessary if someone is really struggling. Why wasn’t the coaching staff prepared to swap Booth out? Why was her leash so long? Do they fear that if they bench her she will transfer? She had a stellar week but it was obvious early on she wasn’t going to have an A+ performance. She was slow to close the block more often than not, allowing Nebraska to pound away and bully the back-row. The passing was terrible last night. Charlie was running all over the court. Anyone who has actually played knows it’s insanely hard to set the middle with bad passes. Middle is hardest position to swing from as it is usually just a straight route, unless you have the opportunity to a run slide. The triple block on Franklin was interesting LOL! In the end, Wisco played poorly, and Nebraska clearly spent the week analyzing us and came up with a game plan that exploited our weaknesses. My view is Cook focused on our two freshmen. Our team is the tallest in the world, but it requires great sets to be effective, and it’s up to the two freshmen to make that happen (good pass followed by a good set). Imperfect sets combined with great defense means an attack that would be a point against any other team is a returned ball against Nebraska. It’s a strategy that everybody has thought of, but only a few teams have the personnel to make work.

I'd like to see Carly continue to be used as a serving sub.

The easiest answer is end the middle platoon and Carly serves for a middle. A lot of people here would be happy with that. Ultimately, I’ll trust Kelly.

For those of you that attended the match last night did the student section heckle Harper Murray? I’m seeing g in the match thread that they chanted, “D-U-I” Did this only happen once? I heard it in the upper deck once. I was glad it did not get repeated. I am not in any way a Nebraska fan but I am glad Murray is getting her life back together and that her team is helping it happen.

Although I have to admit, having logged in 10 minutes or so late, I got in there and was like "wait, Carly is in? Did he bench Fuerbringer?" and my next thought was a 6-2; it took reading the match thread for me to realize that GG was scratched.

Why is Sheffield so opposed to changing things up and subbing players who are not doing the job??
Lola was horrible on Friday; Shef' sat on his hands...not doing anything about it. How about a sub, hiding Lola in SR., passing with two... something, anything?!
Again, he is outcoached because he cannot manage personal decisions during a match.
Devyn is getting a raw deal. She is an All-American!
We're not facing a sweep if Anna puts some of those balls away.
Nebraska played well enough and took us out Friday; there was no dispute; they won and were the better team on Friday.
Saarh, as the only option during emergency sets is very limiting, and the entire country knows where it's going on a bad pass/broken play.

Lola wasn't horrible but the block in front of her sucked, by and large, and it's hard to defend behind a crappy block. Our serving did not put NE OOS...and again...hard to defend with only one blocker. Her passing was just fine. We win with 2.2 passing if Anna does...anything at all. 🙄 Devyn should have played and I'm guessing she didn't because she was hurt or sick...but who knows. Sheff has lost a match this year with his decisions.

Sheff has lost a match this year with his decisions. No one's serving puts Nebraska OOS. And that's why we're going to have a hard time vs them - you have to get your MB at least over to the pin when they're in system and get a positive block touch or at least close the seam. Devyn isn't reading the sets well and Carter just doesn't move well enough laterally (a common problem for people that tall). When we get teams out of system our block is deadly but Nebraska passes too well. We'll see how it goes vs Penn State. Now there's a team you can get out of system.

One of Nebraska's biggest exploits against us was consistently going right side against Booth.

If Sheffield isn't pulling a player who isn't at their best, I assume he doesn't think there's an improvement by substituting a different player. He is Wisconsin's winningest coach.
